The hotel isn’t what’s pictured at all & creates a completely different sense of impression. Over $1100 for two nights was paid for a Wednesday/Thursday stay over & it’s probably the worst over priced rip off I’ve ever experienced. The checkin in started with not being greeted & being left to stand as she tapped away at an email which was weird. A group gathered in the entrance & a woman shouting / dictating to the group why/if one of the group was missing who I think ended up actually working there behind the desk. It’s basic as in theres no elevator which is fine but .. the robes they offer for the communal hot tub look like something grandma has spare lying around, the alleged charging iPhone clock doesn’t work, wifi isn’t the hot coco password mentioned at the desk, the room was missing slippers, they have an extension cable lying on the floor incase you brought a load of electronics … the bed frames are pointy so beware of those shins when manoeuvring around the TINY rooms… honestly just a real disappointment to what you’d think $500 a night after taxes would offer. Complete lack of quality or style, it gives classic Juneau / ski chalet vibes where you can hear absolutely everything in the hallways unfortunately..

I've booked dozens upon dozens of faceless corporate hotels while traveling for work and it was refreshing to stay somewhere with actual personality and character. Silverbow is incredibly charming and intimate. After a few days I felt at home and was sad to leave. My room did not have a fridge or microwave, but both are available for 24/7 use in the kitchenette downstairs. I did have a motorized adjustable bed and smart TV though, which were very nice. Breakfast was humble, but satisfying. The egg cup bites were quite tasty, especially when paired with an English muffin and avocado. I much preferred this offering over the typical chafing dish-fare you get at other hotels. The highlight of my trip was the rooftop hot tub deck. Relaxing under the Alaskan night sky during a gentle snowfall is an experience I will not soon forget. The sub-freezing air temperature no match for the steaming water, drink in hand, gazing over the beautiful Juneau landscape. All in all, I would highly recommend. The location is great, the staff are wonderful, and the whole experience was lovely. If I'm ever lucky enough to visit Juneau again in the future, Silverbow will be at the top of my list of places to stay.

ABOVE AND BEYOND I stayed here for 4 days. I don't even know where to start. Jill, Paige, David and the other staff members were all INCREDIBLE. Super homey place. Amazing free breakfast and coffee, a fresh baked cookies & hot cocoa happy hour daily (yes, really) and a gigantic jar of jelly beans and other treats for a late night snack. This place is the real deal! Here's the kicker- It was my birthday while I visited here. I had mentioned it in casual conversation while trying to find a fancy restaurant to celebrate. I came back to a Happy Birthday card from the Silverbow team, along with a gift wrapped box of sour patch kids! I don't know the next time I'll be in Juneau, but when that day comes, I know where I'll be staying. Thank you all so much for the stay. I thoroughly enjoyed it. With a love that echoes through the ages, Josh

Silverbow Inn: looks can be deceiving

The Good:

The staff was friendly and attentive and the decor was really cool. Our first floor room was very clean as was the lobby and kitchen area. The hotel management was responsive to our issues and agreeable to a refund. The food at In Bocca al Lupo was incredible!

The Bad:

The experience was not relaxing and was stressful. Our first-floor room was tightly sandwiched between a noisy lobby and the connecting restaurant, making sleep impossible. The constant chatter, creaking floors, slamming doors, banging cabinets, and a mysterious vibrating hum kept us up all night. We also heard late night clanging in the alley area outside our first floor room. Safety was also a major concern. The room lacked an inside latch, and the top window latch was unlocked upon arrival. The side hallway exterior door by our guestroom door was also propped open at times. People from the restaurant can easily walk into the hallway right outside our door. It is separated by several feet. We ended up barricading the guestroom door ourselves with furniture and locking the window ourselves. I later found a review echoing our safety concerns, where a family with young daughters left the hotel for the same reason. To make matters worse, loud construction concrete drilling prevented us from relaxing in our room upon our arrival from the airport. They had the nerve to offer ear plugs. Seriously? By 3 a.m. on our only night there, I was in tears, sleep-deprived, and regretting Juneau. We had to switch hotels the next day, which was an added expense and a frustrating experience for my daughter to have to repack and drag bags around town. We moved to the Sheraton, which was significantly more comfortable and quiet. We slept all night at the Sheraton with zero disruption.

The Silverbow hotel could easily fix these noise and safety problems by limiting late-night noise, securing the room door with an inside latch, and informing guests about the first-floor room's issues. Install a door on the hallway and only let the first floor guest and employee through. Don't prop the hallway door. They should not even offer that room to be honest, especially to women and kids. But until they do, I strongly recommend staying away from the Silverbow Inn unless you know for 100% certain that you're not assigned to that room. This was not a vacation on our first night, but a stressful and sleepless ordeal.

The Recovery:

This first night of no sleep made me groggy the next day and feeling down, but thanks to the amazing people at North Star Helicopters and glacier trek, the day was saved. After taking the mind blowing flight and glacier walk, we headed back to the Sheraton and slept like babies. What a relief. The day was saved.

I shared my frustration with Silverbow management in writing. They refunded me for the night that we didn't use. I appreciate the ethical approach. I am very thankful that I got that refund especially since I didn't check out early enough on the second day to get a refund. We didn't have time with our schedule. Silverbow Inn WELCOMES COVID WITH OPEN ARMS!!!

Today we were on our way to Juneau from a nearby fishing town. We booked our stay only 30 hours in advance. 24 hours before check in, at about 2:00 pm today were notified that we had been recently exposed to someone with COVID where we were previously accommodated.

We felt the urgency and responsibility to call Silverbow Inn and notify them about the circumstance. The concierge specialist on the phone with me gave what seemed to be understanding and asked for my credit card information. I was assuming so that we could be refunded, as we called to inform of the exposure and hopefully cancel our reservation for the safety of the other guests and staff. When I asked what the card information was for, she THEN told me that she used it to charge me an "amenities fee" of $20. Weird as I had not authorized charges, but thought I would be receiving a partial if not full refund. Instantly my amex notified me of a $273.15 charge from Silverbow Inn. I then confronted her with my frustration of a whole new accommodation charge. She then explained that she was going to refund and "fix" the issue just for me and instead I slapped with an ADDITIONAL $222.00 charge on top of the previous one! Mind you -- I had already paid the full amount for the stay upfront. The gal then proclaimed that there would be no refund, partial refund, and to insist we utilize our stay, knowing well we had been exposed to someone who had tested positive!!! I then clearly have had enough of this poor execution from a the Silverbow Inn staff. My next request was to speak with a manger or someone in upper management immediately to rectify this avalanche of mistakes. In a soft whisper I hear " they want to speak to a manger", then the same gal after a long pause unconvincingly claims she is the "manager", hmmmm..... not so fast I called her out for exactly what I heard her whisper as she clearly thought she was being sly. (Insert SUPER AWKWARD PAUSE) Then some audible muffles as the phone gets shuffled over to whom they now claim is the " real manager"? This gal then decided to give me a whole spiel on how the previous staff member was current manager in training and that today was in fact her last day so she is a "co-manager" , in my head I can't believe that they are going to pass over the management roll to someone who clearly charges credit cards without authorization not once but TWO TIMES on top of insisting to come stay at their accommodations knowing well that we had been exposed to COVID.

Moral of the story,

Silverbell Inn cares about the profit of a SINGLE NIGHT reservation over the safety of it's employees and guests. The staff execution is a direct reflection of the management and do not in any way shape or form take care of guests NOR the mistakes like any other host would for the $$$ your paying for a reservation. Stay FAR AWAY FROM THE...

We stayed at the Silverbow Inn & Suites in Juneau in late May/early June and it was the perfect location. Extremely walkable to restaurants, shops, sites, hiking, the waterfront and pier. We were really impressed by the no-contact check-in, text updates, friendly staff and the comfort of the common areas as well as our room. We stayed in one of their newly renovated suites, and it was perfect -- such a great value.

Let's talk about the room. AMAZING. Larger than many apartments, yet still cozy and very functional. The room we stayed in, 309, came with a kitchenette, complete with sink, stove top, hood range, fridge, cleaning essentials, coffee & tea selection, and all the pots, pans and dining essentials you'd need. It also came with a very comfortable couch and seating area, as well as a high-top bar & stools across from the kitchenette. It's large enough for a small family or group.

The room also had a separated "Master" bedroom with a large king bed that was adjustable (each side of the bed controlled by a remote to raise and lower). It was so comfortable my husband and I are thinking of getting one for our own home. The bedroom was spacious and we easily fit our bulky luggage in there, and were able to hang clothes in the closet. Both the bedroom and the living room came with TVs, and you could watch regular TV or enter one of your streaming services (Netflix/Hulu/etc.)

The room itself had beautiful windows with blackout curtains and panels that opened to catch the crisp air coming off the mountains. If you stepped into the hall outside the room, you also had immediate access to an outdoor patio with chairs, overlooking the first -level roof and city (with a little water view).

There's something even better though -- the Silverbow has the most beautiful rooftop views and comfy hangout spots. The lower level roof has a newly updated raised deck and hot-tub arrangement -- making it a great spot to relax and watch the city. For COVID, they also set up a "sign-in" sheet, so you can "reserve" your slot times for the hot tub for just your party. There's a something new, too -- they've completely redone the top roof, including another hot tub, fire pit and lounging areas. We managed to sneak a peek and oh my gosh, the view is insane. It's nearly finished up there, so expect to enjoy that piece soon, if not already!

We'll definitely be back and will recommend to...
