Quite a match for Little Tokyo Japanese Restaurant, I am quite certain that if you like to eat at Little Tokyo's at Juneau then you must also try eating at the Korea Garden. I always see to it that I eat at this restaurant every time my contract ends and I really never get tired of trying their different kinds of Asian dishes not only for the reason of me being an Asian myself, it is because I find their cooking worthy of paying for (we get free food and lodging on my work). Before I have discovered Korea Garden, I always eat at Little Tokyo's at Juneau but now it us clear for me that there's quite a competition betwen the two Asian restaurants. I both like them anyways even though they have little similarities in their dishes, there is still a lot if difference you can still point out when you try dining in them especially on their taste comparison. Prices ranges also does not differ that much compared with Little Tokyo's but like I have said - both of them serves dishes that are worth paying for. On top of it all, they also offer free Wi-Fi connection for their dining customers and this is quite an advantage for seafarers, they could dine in as long as they want while downloading media files or browsing the net as long as they don't forget what time their ship...
Read moreThis place used to be alright with awesome food, however, the racism/discrimination exists in this establishment. I ordered carryout one night and sat in the restaurant at a booth waiting for the food. One of the waiters was nice enough to bring me a hot cup of tea since it was cold outside. I was very appreciative, and drank all of it to be nice. He came back and saw I finished the cup of tea and had pushed it to the side, and he went to refill the tea cup again but said, "Drink slowly, this isn't a tea shop." First of all, I didn't ask for the tea. Second, I drank the first glass completely to be nice and accept the awesome hospitality. Thirdly, I didn't ask for the second cup of tea either, and had no plans of drinking it as I only drank the first one to be nice. The rudeness was uncalled for, and I'm thinking maybe since I was the only person of color sitting in the place, he felt he could be rude and nasty towards me with that backhand comment. Haven't ate at the...
Read moreI ate lunch by myself and only ordered a small vegetarian tofu soup and Thai tea. The older female worker said the bill was exactly $42.00 (soup and drink = $33.00; sales tax = $2.00; and mandatory tip = $7.00).
Even though the menu clearly states that the restaurant only charges a 20% gratuity on parties of 5+ people, the worker charged me a nearly 22% gratuity. Surprisingly, she said that it was the law that all customers pay the tip. However, I took a picture of the menu to prove that the restaurant rules for tipping only apply to parties of 5+ people, not parties of one (1) person.
Furthermore, even though I'm a tourist, I read that Alaska state doesn't have a sales tax. Even though the Juneau government can enforce a 5% sales tax, the lady charged me a 6.1% sales tax. The math didn't make sense.
When I said I wanted to pay cash, the lady said they don't print receipts for cash payments. I asked several times for a receipt and the lady finally...
