My wife and I had gone to this particular theater multiple times in the past, to the point of purchasing the A-list membership because we liked to see movies frequently. After our recent experience at this particular theater, we have come to regret that decision. First off, it is becoming apparent that what happened to us is not an isolated incident at this location as other reviews have mentioned fights breaking out in the theater, with no real intervention by their 'security' personnel. Security which is provided by those who are representing the KCK police department. Utterly useless in their function there as the gentleman who was on duty simply stood leaning against the wall and watched the exchange occur where another patron chose to verbally assault and threaten myself and my wife. The incident started when we were waiting to get our tickets verified at the front and the young man taking them was helping a lady who was having trouble with her electronic ticket on her phone. The employee was kind and polite and went out of his way to help the lady. While this happened, a couple ( who I can only classify as the epitome of ghetto with absolutely no home training ) rudely walked up to the young man and started waving and shoving their ticket stubs in his face demanding that he help them instead of finishing with the lady he was currently helping. My wife was polite and asked the patron to please wait as he was helping the lady and that we were the next ones who had been waiting in line. The individual them proceeded to cuss her out and to threaten us both with physical violence. It appears that this individual was the type who would threaten an individual who is wheelchair bound in order to try to impress his female counterpart. And yes, I wanted to give him the beatdown of his life at this point, but also wasn't going to lower myself to the level and mentality of obvious trash. In an altercation like this, had I resorted to his level, with the current media not caring about truth, it would have been spun into being a hate crime all because he was black and I am white. Well guess what, my wife is hispanic so guess I am not as much of a racist as he wanted to play it off as. This entire incident has only served to solidify my personal belief that there is ghetto trash in every single ethnic background out there and that the false ideal of superiority and entitlement fueled by prejudice will raise its ugly head anywhere. The young man thanked my wife and I for standing up for him when this patron had treated him so badly, but other staff, management, and even the police acting as security there turned a blind eye to it all until they were forced to intervene because we asked that it be addressed only because of the threats of violence made by the person. Will have to strongly reconsider ever returning to this location as it is apparent that patron and employee safety is not one of their...
Read moreI'm from out of town and wanted to watch a movie around 9pm. This was the closest one so I figured I would give it a try. I have always seen on the news about shootings in the neighborhood around here. I'm the kind of guy that doesn't get too nervous or uneasy around rough crowds. But the crowd here makes you feel uneasy. Which is weird because I've been to some really bad run down neighborhoods and never felt uneasy. This place gives you a false sense of security because the buildings and lighting looks like an upper class neighborhood. Upon entering the theater there were three cops sitting at the table and the ticket lady looked unthousiact and didn't want to be there. I preceded to order food and the lady said they would bring it to me. I asked if I needed the receipt and she laughed at me like I was stupid or something. I didn't know if I needed it or not this was the first time here and first ever dine in. Well the food came (nachos supreme) and looked really good, tasted even better. But the problem is they put some kind of wax paper on the bottom and it gets soft from soaking up the cheese. If you try to eat it with a fork you get paper with it. I ended up eating on chip at a time and wasting half of it. Because I couldn't finish it with the fork. Sucks because that was an 18 dollar dish. On the other hand the best thing was the reclining leather seats, really comfortable. When the movie was over about midnight I walked out and there was a cop still sitting there slouched and on his phone. All in all I don't think I'll be...
Read moreArrived for an IMAX screening and it was cancelled due to projector not working, then a massive line of 40 minutes to get a refund, went to see a different showing after purchasing another ticket. Concession stand was overworked and did not have the dine in options that this place is upcharging to advertise. Would not pre-order food. Staff is clearly working hard but underserved by larger ownership and management.
Front desk repeatedly attempted to call for a manager with no avail, looks like whoever is running this place was letting their staff flounder.
Update, turns out there are multiple managers. One of whom was watching the young woman at the counter struggle as he was just staring at her and hearing her make calls on the radio for him. Finally got a refund and then told to get back the fees I have to submit online, turns out not true as when I attempted to place a call since the online form was unavailable the phone line was then unavailable. Nice little self eating snake of no way to get a refund for a movie that the theater itself was unable to show.
Poor AMC staff to work so hard and be supported so little by their management and AMC corporate. If anyone knows their email scheme or email address for their CEO I'd love to see it to provide feedback on why their business is suffering and to help out their employees work in a less dysfunctional...
