My initial experience with Level One Game Shop was top of the line service - definitely 5 stars. When it came to getting Digimon products from the shop, the shop was fair with their pricing and it was good to know that with their special request form I would be guaranteed a certain amount of product.
However management has now changed, and the special request - according to them is now "just a request." There is no guarantee, and the communication of this was abysmal. I know that for special request items, that you may not get exactly the number you requested. But I do think clear communication is important and for repeat customers who've spent hundreds of dollars only to get this type of response? A slap in the face.
Without this clear communication, I would have been ordering or pre-ordering from other local stores but with release date of Digimon: Battle of Omni so close, I'm looking at scalper prices. Keep in mind that the special requests I made were months ago and they are not honoring any of the special requests I've made.
Edit: 07/24/2021 My review will remain a 1 star.
As mentioned in the response from the Level One Team. It's explicitly states that nothing has changed other than how they NOTIFY everyone that they are able to purchase products. There was and has been no clear communication in the weeks since management change. The transition from one system to another has been a lack of communication and before the system felt like the shop had the customer's back and attempted to make things right in any way it could.
In my original review, I explicitly state that communication is my reason for the poor review - because other stores do put limitations on purchases due to low allocation. That is understandable. But what I don't understand is why this couldn't have been communicated instead of an abrupt...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAwful store that doesn't let you see cards you're interested in purchasing to check conditions. Understandable to be cautious and protect the product, but makes it impossible to sell an item without the buyer being able to look at it. Staff had little to no knowledge on things. Good board game selection though. Probably what the store should stick too.
Update: After reading one of the owners response, I'd like to highlight that the staff didn't explain or even ask If wanted to buy the card. I thought this might be the implied intent when I first asked the price and then asked to see the condition. They just told me it was a "expensive card" and "we don't take it out of the case". And then proceded to turn away and continue talking to other staff that were congregated behind the sales case. When voicing the thought "then how is someone suppose to see condition before buying it" one of the staff just replied "sorry" and srugged. So I guess you could say I was confused but I didn't have anything explained to me, so I'd say I was more appalled than anything else.
Yeah it might be a busy weekend, but I hardly see that as an issue when the most the staff at the time was 'busy' with each other and not other costumers. Appreciate the response to wash my review away as a 'silly confused customer'. You should be more accountable for your employees actions and take steps to better your customer interaction. That kind of change can best be reflected in leadership, so I say start by looking...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMostly friendly staff. My GF was treated a little catty and I thought I was getting a little bit of condescending attitude that wasnt necessary. Any complaints would be to the same young woman. Almost treated us like we weren't "enough" of whatever stereotypes should visit these places. Just seems ironic at the time. Most would probably consider it offensive or rude. We are too passive to care lol..
Edit after response from owner*
To be clear I do like the place alot. Aside from the passive aggressive attitude from one woman it was fine. I was there to trade in some cards, although a pretty quick process, it was a bit sloppy in the sense that value was unclear on what for what card and I thought the offers were kind of low for cash. I do regret trading the ones I did my first time as I thought the offer was really low and didn't understand how they priced them out and I was trusting them to help me know their worth but it was a learning experience. I like the place alot. The guy could have been more knowledgeable about the cards I was selling other than typing on computer and giving me the lowest market price off a website. He didn't explain that the cash offer was basically like 10% of market value. I didn't realize the actual value until a private buyer made an offer from an app posting I had just throwing some criticism I hope will be...
