I know I’m quite late with this review but a few months ago my family and I went on a cape fox tour and we had an amazing tour guide! (sadly I don’t remember his name) He took us to see and watch some eagles and then he took us to the beach, our last stop (before heading back to the cruise ship) was the Saxman village where we got to see lots of great totems and we even got to meet the famous master carver Nathan Jackson. We were able to talk to him for a little while and learnt a lot about his famous masterpieces! Our tour guide told us a lot about the native people and we learned about many historic stories and legends about Ketchikan and the surrounding areas. I personally enjoyed the eagle watching the most because I was able to capture many really nice pictures of these majestic creatures! Read moreWe did the Saxman Native Village & Lumberjack Show June 24, 2025. First off I want to say how professional and friendly the staff was from beginning to end. It started to drizzle and they let us sit in the van as we waited for more guests to arrive. Our driver was a young man names Brooke. He gave us a great tour to the event sites and was so knowledgeable about Alaskan tribes their culture and lure. He was funny and very informed about the area and the culture in it. He was an added surprise to the fantastic events we seen. The Saxman Native Village was fun event with shows of native dance and education about their traditions. The totem carving exhibition was an eye opener as we watched the skilled tribesmen carving and explaining the how and why of the tradition of Totem making. This was a first class operation with first class caring...

However, there was no Ketchikan Highlights. Our tour guide was late to pick us up. They never called to inform us they would be late and maybe we could have walked around. We had to call the office in Anchorage to hear that he was running late. So the driver rushed us to the Saxman Village, and then they rushed us to The Lumberjack Show. The driver informed us of 3 things in route between the village and the show, and 1 was of a previously existing Subway restaurant that is now closed. The other was about the Ketchikan sign that you see from your cruise ship, and then there was 1 ither thing he mentioned. Not very...
