I’m not sure where to begin and end. What I do know is how poorly I was treated in this establishment. I have a speech impediment due to head and neck cancer. I understand that it can be difficult to understand me and always own that, but the facial expressions and service really said it all for me when I tried to order and the cashier was very short with me. She gave me the most hateful expression and said, “What?” So many better ways to handle that situation. I actually left this shop in tears. I paid close to $10 for a container of terrible donuts and a coffee. I ordered a 1/2 cup of coffee with an espresso shot. I order 1/2 bc my nerves in my mouth are severed and sensitive to extreme hot/ cold. I was going to add milk to fill the other 1/2. When the cashier returned and it was full, I politely asked if she could pour 1/2 out. She rolled her eyes and then preceded to ridicule me with a person who seemed to be management- all within earshot and as if I didn’t even matter. Furthermore- I ordered what I needed and paid for it, so why does it matter. At first, I was forgiving for the poor service bc they were busy, but by the end, I had had enough. Typically in a shop like this, I might double the tip amount, but I left nothing this time. I am 45 years old and can honestly say I’ve never not left a tip, anywhere... ever. I’ve never been made to feel so terrible. As I said, I left in tears and the whole experience made me sick. There is a famous quote “People may forget what you say, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” If you have any type of disability or special need, I would caution against...
Read moreI came into Polar Treat with my friend. I purchased a bottle of water and left tip in the jar. I sat down and the one that rang me up came up to us asking if we wanted anything else. We let her know we were ok for now but plan to get some pastries later. She left fairly quickly and the next thing we knew, the wifi was shut off. We waited 10-15minutes but decided to leave since we felt uncomfortable with how she treated us. As we walked out she stared at us having a smirk on her face. I don't understand why she was so hostile to us. We weren't loud and we were acting respectful the time we were there. I plan on not coming back here...
Read moreOnly tried an Americano and ice cream cone. Ice cream was pretty good. Had it with an oddly hearty waffle cone. The staff were all quite friendly.
The americano on the other hand was meh. I asked how many shots are in the 16 oz and was assured the 2 long shots would be plenty. Honestly, it tasted watery and lacked the depth of flavor one usually gets with this drink (when choosing it over brewed coffee). I didn't have an espresso shot here, so I don't know if it was the espresso itself or just way too much water. YMMV. If I had more time in Ketchikan, I would probably try other places, as there are LOTs of coffee...
