This used to be one of my favorite places to go when we come to OBX for vacation, that was until last night. There was a man using the n-word in just about every sentence and when I asked the man if he would talk to me, I got told I had to leave. I was not yelling or being rude, I simply just asked if he would talk to me. If this is how the establishment handles comments like that, I don't see a need to go here again. The bartenders and security walked up to us and didn’t ask what the issue was, just told us we had to go. I will never spend a dime at this place again.
Edit to add: The exact timeline of all of this. The olympics were on, we watched the 100M men’s race. After that was over the local news came on and they were talking about the election. The man sitting next to my friend (after spilling his beer and splashing it with his hand on the bar and all on her) asked who we were voting for. My friend answered him, he said who he was voting for and I said politics and bars don’t mix, you shouldn’t talk about them in a bar. That was the end of that.
Now to the man that was using the n word. He had come over to the guy we were with first and made a derogatory comment after my friend stood up and spun around as a joke. Which was the first time he used that word. After it got thrown around about 8 more times, our friend got up and was talking to them. He said it another 4 times, which is when I got up and said “Can I talk to you please? I just want to have a conversation”. Which was when everyone came over and told us we had to leave.
I am a bartender, I’ve been around this for years. The situation was handled completely wrong. I absolutely did get irate as we exited out of the building because I also got threatened with trespassing when I asked for clarification as to why I was being told to leave. I will not support an establishment that condones...
Read moreI saw the reviews that said Best Burger so we decided to give it a go as we love burgers. We walk in and okay we were outside of our comfort zone as we normally don't go to bars. But this place had me intrigued. Rock n Roll (from our time might I add) & Pink Floyd music playing loud, dollar bills all over the walls, the decorations and the lights over the tables and yes I noticed how those were done. So Cool! The bathroom was cleaner than I expected thankfully. We were seated quickly and I just couldn't stop looking around. We were reading the bills on the walls beside us and laughing. We ordered the Dr. Gonzo & the Classic Jack that was cooked to perfection with crinkle fries. Our waiter brought us a bottle of the special sauce. I kind of thought I would miss having the toppings on my burger until I used the sauce on it and the fries. Nope no toppings needed! I agree The BEST Burger ever! I wanted a bigger burger it was so great.
Our waiter was nice and helpful at first. But near the end he kind of just disappeared on us. It really wasn't that busy in there. If it wasn't for our waiter pulling a disappearing act on us at the end and not bringing our money back after my husband told him that he wanted his change back I would have given a rating of 5! It took a long while for him to bring us the bill, then to come back to get our money ( as we saw him talking to others) not to mention making sure that people who arrived after we did got to eat and leave before us was kind of not right. But to just not bring change back? We gave up and walked out with him getting a larger tip than he deserved! So after having a really great burger and fries not to mention the amazing sauce that I really wanted to take with me by the way! It would have been a nicer experience had it...
Read moreNo leniency in the menu & Worst service ever! I am posting based on 3 different customers that visited 3 different nights. 1. Do NOT ask for anything other than the condiments that come. No lettuce, tomato, or onions??? 2. No salt & pepper on any of the tables? 3. The burger was overcooked and dry. They pride themselves on their quality of beef, but I couldn't tell any difference. They are definitely not the best on the beach. Once our food was served, our waitress disappeared. We had to ask another waitress for salt & pepper, a second waitress for drink refill, and a third to bring our bill. My neighbors tell me that this was their experience when they went as well. 5. I had planned to order dessert, but no one ever offered. 6. No one ever asked if our food was ok. No one cared except the man cleaning tables. Everytime I needed something, I asked him to find a waitress for me. Before we left the manager was sent over. He was very nice. He came over to apologize & comp our bill, but that isn't what I was looking for. I just want average service when I go out to eat, nothing special. This place gives NO service. Right now the beach is busy with tourists, so they will be okay. If they don't fix things, once the season is over the locals will ban this place.
I would like all businesses to do well, so I hope the management takes this criticism to heart. Please eat out here so you can taste a GOOD burger and learn what customer service is expected in the Outer Banks. As many will tell you "The locals will make or break...
