From the moment we stepped into Doldrick's Escape Room, we knew we were in for a treat, but the reality far exceeded our expectations. We had the pleasure of attempting two escape rooms, "Crazy Train" and "Captain Spoopy," each offering a distinct and memorable experience.
Crazy Train - A Whirlwind of Whimsy and Wonder
Our first adventure, "Crazy Train," was nothing short of spectacular. The room's design ingeniously captured the essence of a black and white cartoon, immersing us completely in what felt like another dimension. The storyline was engaging, filled with twists that captivated our imagination. Technologically, the room showcased some of the most innovative and clever uses of mechanics we've seen in any escape room worldwide. Despite the high-tech features, the puzzles were approachable and solvable, striking a perfect balance between challenge and enjoyment.
Captain Spoopy - Classic Charm with a Twist of Teamwork
Next, we tackled "Captain Spoopy," which contrasted beautifully with our first game. As one of Doldrick's earlier creations, it relied more on traditional manual locks and physical puzzles. However, don't let the "older" label fool you - the challenges were fresh, requiring significant collaboration and creative thinking. This room proved that a great escape game doesn't need the latest technology to be thrilling.
Game Masters - Guiding Lights of Our Adventure
A special shout-out to the game masters, who were exemplary in their roles. They provided just the right amount of guidance when needed, offering subtle hints that enhanced our experience without giving too much away. Their attentiveness ensured that our adventure was smooth and enjoyable.
Final Thoughts
Doldrick's Escape Room delivers an exceptional escape room experience that caters to both newcomers and seasoned enthusiasts. Whether it's the cartoonish charm of "Crazy Train" or the nostalgic challenge of "Captain Spoopy," there's something here for everyone. We wholeheartedly recommend visiting Doldrick's to experience their fantastic rooms firsthand. Whether you're looking for innovative technology or clever puzzle design, you won't be...
Read moreThis was my first time doing an escape room and was very happy to go here with my friends. Check in and waiver signing was very quick, and there were comfortable chairs to wait while my friends arrived. Before going to the rules, we were explained the rules, some quick tips, and were told we can have as many clues as needed for the rooms. We did super bomb squad and the red sled rooms, both were were challenging, creative, and highly interactive. I must say I enjoyed the Super Bomb Squad rooms because it was highly engaging and lots of technical stuff to play with. The red sled room was also fun, but the puzzles were much more difficult. Both rooms were well decorated and themed without going overboard. You can easily talk to the game master via the mics and cameras inside the rooms to get clues or other help.
However, what made the rooms most enjoyable for me, was our game master, Jocelyn, who was helpful and provided us clues when we needed it. Without ruining the game or experience, she was able to tell us whether we were in the right track, and pointed us to the correct direction when we were lost. She was also very nice to make one part of the puzzle easier for us to avoid frustration, and extend the time of another room because we were on the right track and had to finish one last puzzle to beat it. We were able to beat the bomb room with under 3 minutes to go, and the red sled room with the generous extra time Jocelyn gave us.
I will say that due to the difficulty of these rooms, beginners may get lost or frustrated with the puzzles, so I highly recommend to ask for clues when you need them. Also for red sled room, claustrophobic people may get uncomfortable at one part.
For each game, it was about 37 dollars after taxes, which is well worth it based on how creative, fun, and challenging the rooms are. The experience is private as well, so it is just you and your friends. Overall for my first escape room experience, this made me love escape rooms and definitely will come back to Doldricks to try...
Read moreWent to Doldrick's Escape Room with a family including teenaged boys. We've done a number of escape games (over 40), and this will be one for our "faves" list. Let's start with the Awesome: The sets/scene - from the minute you walk in this room, you have a sense of being on a ship, fog and the lighting, and more (no spoilers here). Throughout the entire room, you'll be wowed by the level of detail, the interaction, and the production value of this room. The storyline is funny (a bonus we've not experienced very often in rooms around the world), and the puzzles carry the story throughout The puzzles are unique and although padlocks are involved, they are "cracked" with a broad variety of clues that keep your whole group working throughout the hour Not linear - what that means for you - if you have a larger group (or even a family of 4), three of you don't have to wait around for one person to solve a puzzle - there are a number of puzzles to be completed and/or researched at the same time. In fact, it's almost impossible to solve some of the puzzles alone.
Our hosts mentioned that the lobby will soon sport a cocktail area, and there as already comfortable seating and a pool table if you want to hang out before or after your room.
This might not be the best room for first-time puzzle room folks as some of the puzzles are pretty difficult - unless you want to tackle it for the experience - then get lots of clues so you can keep moving as the payoff is fun, too. If you're an escape game pro, however, you'll love the unique nature and complexity of these puzzles.
We highly...
