I'd give this store/company 0 stars if I could.
(1) THEY INTENTIONALLY SELL BROKEN ELECTRONICS. Do not buy anything that you can't THOROUGHLY INSPECT first. I asked 2 employees if the electronics I wanted to buy were tested before being put on the shelves. I was told they were. Still, I asked what I could do if I bought them & they didn't work. I was told not to worry, I could bring them back "to exchange" them. Sadly, this is misleading as they have a very old school way of doing this. (See the next point.) When I did bring the items back, I was told they'd be "redonated" despite me clearly telling them the items didn't work. I asked for a marker so I could write on the items that they're broken. The staff REFUSED to clearly mark the items as broken. Fortunately my pen worked on these items, so I wrote "BROKEN" in large lettering.
(2) THEY DO NOT STAND BY WHAT THEY SELL. They do not offer store credits or refunds. All they offer is bring the merchandise back and exchange it for something of equal value or less at the same moment that you bring back the merchandise. No such thing as store credit if there's nothing in the store useful to you.
For a store with profits in the billions supporting wealthy CEOs, no wonder they don't care about standing by their products.
I will never shop at any Value Village / Savers store again. And I will spread the word about them intentionally selling broken items. I will continue correcting people who believe their intentionally deceptive marketing. They mislead folks into thinking that they're a nonprofit, but they donate only a tiny portion of profits to nonprofits.
If you want to put your money where your mouth is and support nonprofit thrift stores, please educate yourself on the business practices of billion-dollar companies like Value Village before donating your items (and money) to their...
Read moreI love thrift shopping. I've been shopping at Value Village for years. They have a large selection of women's clothing, which is great. Their selection of men's, babies', etc. clothing is quite a bit smaller. Their prices vary. Sometimes I find some great deals. Other times they're trying to charge $16.99 for a pair of used, non-designer jeans.
I don't enjoy shopping here much anymore. I really hate that they got rid of the fitting rooms! I understood them closing the fitting rooms during the height of COVID, but it's silly they haven't put them back in. I wouldn't care quite as much about having to buy clothing without being able to try it on if they had a better return policy... But the fact that they DON'T EVEN GIVE STORE CREDIT for returns is ridiculous. So every time I buy an article of clothing I'm taking a gamble. If it doesn't fit, I have to find time within the next 14 days to go back to the store and shop again during their limited store hours (they close at 7 p.m.) to make exchanges, again with clothing that I can't try on to make sure it will fit. It's not as easy as exchanging an item at a regular store where you can get the same item in a different size. What if I don't find anything I like on the day I go to make an exchange? Then I'm screwed. What if my exchanges don't fit? I then have to go back AGAIN and waste even more of my time. It's a terrible policy for a store without firing rooms. Please either reopen the fitting rooms or allow returns for store credit, or better...
Read moreAt opening today on October 23 2020, I walked in the door and am greeted friendly by the lady holding the door open and counting people. My son and I walk inside and the older lady cleaning the carts this morning rudely and aggressively asked me how old my son is. And I asked excuse me? She responded with is he two or three? I replied three. Which she then tells me he must wear a mask or we canât shop here. I told her he wonât wear one and she told me then we have to shop someplace else. I then told her that itâs mandated everywhere else that over the age of five is required to wear a mask, and even so if heâs got a medical condition, which youâre not allowed to ask if he does or doesnât, he wouldnât be wearing a mask either. So I turned around to walk out and as Iâm walking out she starts yelling at me that its management rules. This is poor behavior and customer service. If this is your stores regulation fine but post it somewhere and handle it better, I have a friend who went in with her kids and had the same exact experience with the same older women. I was looking for a comfortable shopping experience and all I got was a very rude and demanding associate upon entering the store. I was so embarrassed and angry walking out of Value Village. Iâm very very disappointed as Iâve shopped here for years but definitely wonât be anymore. If I were you Iâd opt to shop...
