Last year, I purchased a gift package for my mother that included 5 classes. She was getting into yoga at home and wanted to learn and grow. I called Kintsugi prior to purchasing to make sure they accepted beginners, and they assured me they had classes for all skill levels and regularly had new people come join. I gifted it to my mother and she was so excited to try it out. Fast forward to recently- I drove past the place with my mom and asked her how her classes went, since I knew she was no longer going. I assumed it was because she was busy, but she told me that she had gone to one of her five classes and had ended up crying in her car after the class. I was shocked and had to dig a little bit to get her to tell me what happened. Apparently she double and triple checked it was a beginners class before attending, but when she came to the class the teacher did not offer any beginner style poses and instead was doing mainly headstands and more difficult balancing exercises. Everyone else in the class seemed to be able to do it except my mom. She stuck it out till the end but rushed out, forgetting her mat she brought from home. She said she cried from frustration, because she assumed the teacher would notice she was unable to do anything and offer her a similar exercise for her skill set. Instead she was ignored.
I’m not usually one to post reviews or be an online troll. But this made me extremely upset with the studio, and I think it’s important for people to know if they are beginners like myself or my mom, you clearly aren’t welcome. My mom was looking for a community she could join and some regular exercise she could get into, and now she’s unlikely to do yoga outside her home since she was so embarrassed.
And yes, it’s possible this teacher is gone by now, but I don’t know for certain.
The extra star is for the kind person on the phone who talked me through things when I purchased, although they were...
Read moreIt's a really cute place. Very peaceful looking. The people are very nice. This is why I gave it a 7. The reason I didn't give it any higher is that the place is really small and the max class is 20. I've been in the room for a couple of classes now and with 20 people, the room gets really, really hot and you really have to be aware of your space. I've had someone's foot in my face twice and another time the girl next to me and I smacked each other when doing an arm stretch. It kind of defeats the purpose of going inside and going with the flow when you have to be so outside of yourself and your surroundings so as not to get hit or hit someone else. Or you can't fully do a pose because your neighbor is so close. I might try it again on a day where it isn't so full. I think the classes are really good and it is so close to my house, I would really like to go more. So...
Read moreMy church for the past 4 months has been Kintsugi. Specifically, the 10am Sunday class with Dray Gardiner. I’ve been coming religiously! With that self discipline and commitment to myself I started to notice changes. They have been physical and mental. More peace within myself. It’s brought me more flexibility, growth, and strength. Teachers here are great. Kind, gentle, understanding, and at the same time challenging. Students are so welcoming and helpful. After a few months of coming regularly I think my husband and daughter saw a shift in me. Now each of them have taken classes too. The family that flows together…..well, they flow together. Yoga is a state of flow. There is research that the more “in flow” time you have in a relationship the stronger more connected it is. Thanks,...
