For positives, this company has good quality stuff, great selection of wedding/engagement rings for women, and good warranties and insurance. That's about all I have good to say, though, and you can find that at almost any jewelry store.
We bought both my fiance's engagement/wedding ring and my wedding band here. We called them probably 8 times throughout this experience trying to figure out what was going on. Their response was always, "So-and-so will call you back." Well, they never did. We'd always call in a few days later and get the same run-around. Terrible communication. One person at the store, probably a manger, actually returned phone calls. But the front-line salesmen never did. Not even once. Didn't matter how many messages were left for them, they would not return phone calls. It was terrible!
When it came to my ring, we were told it should be ready in 3 weeks from when we put in the deposit. Three weeks passed and we called them. They had no idea, but said it was being made in-house. So we went in to see what was going on. They said that 4 weeks is actually pretty typical for a custom order (even though they got my fiance's ring done in 3 weeks AND had to ship it in from some other company who made it AND my ring was basically plain by comparison). So we waited another week. Still not there. Phone calls all over the place and nobody could give us any answer, but they promised to call us back each time we called. They never did. We went in and they said they didn't know what was going on with the ring. Another week went by and calls were still not being returned. Finally, we got a call one day saying that the ring was there and ready. So we went in the next day and they couldn't find it. Called the next day and they still had no idea where it was. Later that same day, two days after telling us it was ready, they called us and said it was ready. This time, it actually was there.
We made some changes to the ring from the design renderings to the final decisions, but it apparently changed the appearance of the ring much more than I expected. I was quite disappointed. Compared to the detail and amazing look of my fiance's ring, it looks like they rushed my ring. The engraving of the design is so shallow that it's almost like it's not there, where the rendering had it much deeper. They didn't even follow my request to use a cursive font in the letter engraving, or place it where I asked them to. And I had to wait two extra weeks for this?
My summary is that I believe the sales employees are more interested in making commissions than they are in making customers happy. They don't have any effective system for communicating information on orders, no follow-through or follow-up procedures, couldn't figure out how much I actually owed them most of the time (this happened twice) and I would not recommend them. To their credit, when we explained our issues with my wedding band, they re-did the whole process and produced a good high-quality ring at no extra charge. Communication was still poor, even with the owner's son, but we got the ring and it...
Read moreWe thought we had a great experience when we first bought our ring but it only went downhill from there, I will never buy from Needams again. We purchased my ring on a pretty good sale and decided to get a custom band and to have the ring resized, we were told it would be ready in one week. The day it was suppose to be finished I called to see and was told it would be done early afternoon, when I called then again and they said it would be a couple more hours. When the couple hours were up I decided to just go in because I was leaving town that night and learned they had done absolutely nothing to it. They had molded the band and when I asked the cost it was around a grand and when I said we couldn’t afford it and didn’t want something that flashy the man I spoke with said, “Well we practically gave you the ring.” As if that was to justify the cost so they could compensate themselves. I told him we didn’t want it and was able to squeeze the ring on and left.
When we purchased our ring we also paid the $50 for a giveaway to a cruise/trip which I’m 99% sure was fraud. Once when we called we spoke with a very creepy man, the second time a woman and when we sent the information it was returned to us since the business did not exist where they said they did so we never got to use it.
The final straw was resizing the ring. Since they didn’t do it at purchase I had called a few months later and they stated they were backed up for months so I decided to try another time. The next time was wary this year before we moved. I went in and spoke with the man, when we purchased our ring in 2016 we were told that the first ring size would be free, however he stated we would only receive 50% off and quoted around $30-$40. We couldn’t do it right then as we were moving and expecting a baby so we put it off again. The last time I went in was in July of this year, the woman again stated that the 1st resize was free only up to the wedding. When I stated we purchased it after my wedding she said, “Well you only have a week or two from your purchase it.” She then went on to quote around $70 this time. We decided to bite the bullet so I could wear my ring again.
Long story short, they had a great sale but their customer service sucks. Not once were we apologized to saying sorry they told you wrong or our policy has changed. Very disappointed with them and regret that we have to keep going back to them to get it cleaned which is 4 hours away.
Oh another one. Once when we took it to get it cleaned I noticed one of the prongs was crooked and the diamond was a little loose, the lady said it was fine and cleaned it quick. Well the next day my main diamond was spinning in the prongs so we took it back and they decided to actually fix it this time. So I don’t have great confidence in their repair work either and it was rather poor quality as my ring looked like it had gotten beat up when they...
Read moreMy husband bought my ring about 10 years ago. The first issue we had was the size. They measured in store and somehow I ended up with the wrong size. They then had to resize the ring, which I’m told affects the quality of the prongs. I lost 7 little diamonds within the first month or two. 7. Then I continued to lose one every month or two and continuously had to go in to have them replaced. We moved out of state and each time I would have it repaired I would lose a diamond within two weeks of wearing it. I would then stick it in a drawer and wait to wear it until I could get it fixed again, which wasn’t often because we lived out of state. We had the prongs reinforced a couple years ago to keep the diamonds from falling out, at which appointment I was told that my kind of ring requires that kind of repair every couple of years — something that would have been nice to know from the beginning since it’s pricey to do and we probably would have reconsidered the ring type if we were aware of that from the beginning. Next, I recently dropped the ring off to be evaluated when we were in town, because I’m sick of having a ring that I can never wear. After a low cash assessment I discussed over the phone the other options we had for the ring. I was told I would get a text message with some pictures of options to secure the diamonds. I never received anything. I also requested over the phone that the diamond that was missing be replaced while it was in the shop (it was there for two months). A week before I was coming to town again I called to ensure the diamond had been fixed, I was informed over the phone that it had been. I then told them my brother would be in to pick it up for me. When my brother picked it up, he didn’t inspect the ring, but took it in the bag they provided and brought it to me. When I opened it I noticed right away that the diamond had not been fixed — it was still missing. I called in to inquire about the repair and make sure I hadn’t been charged as they told me I had been when I called to verify the repair had been made. I hadn’t been charged, which is great, but I also received no apology, just a claim that I hadn’t requested the repair when I had dropped the ring off and there was no record I had ever requested it. So I guess you can’t request work over the phone when you do not live nearby and they already have the ring in their possession— Even though I spoke to multiple people about having it fixed. I’m frustrated that I had to return home with a damaged ring because I didn’t have time to return to have it repaired. I spoke mostly with an associate named Will, but he was not the one that ensured me the work...
