Came here on an early Sunday morning and I was famished so I ordered two plates: chicken and waffles and something called Eggs Noni. The presentation was excellent and it tasted really good as well.
Chicken and waffles: The chicken was seasoned well and the waffles melted in my mouth and were surprisingly fluffy and flaky at the same time. The sauces were pretty good, but the syrup was perfect! Not to sweet and had a particular flavor that made all the difference in my chicken and waffle experience. Would definitely recommend this dish and would order it again. 9/10
Eggs Noni: this dish was okay, but was lacking a bit in flavor, definitely had to add salt to it. The presentation made it look better than it actually tasted, but it wasn’t bad! It’s hard to describe the flavoring of this dish and you definitely have to enjoy vegetables to find this appetizing. I may order this again if I want something light and not too heavy for breakfast. My one dilemma was trying to figure out how to eat it because either with your hands or a fork it was a big mess. The highlight of the meal for me was the potato pancake. I asked to have sour cream and chives to dip it in and the server said there was plenty of sour cream in the pancake, which I think there was too much in the pancake, but traditionally you put some on top and I craved it to be that way. After insisting I still wanted the sour cream he brought me a large ramekin full of it and asked “is that enough for you” and it was way too much 6/10
Service was very lacking here, maybe a 4/10. It was early enough that I was able to seat myself and I chose the bar. I had water brought to me within five mins but no menu. I had to wait for my actual server to get a menu which took maybe 10 mins from the time I sat down. It wasn’t a big deal, but honestly they weren’t very busy.
I ordered my food and my server kind of disappeared. I watched my food sit in the window for maybe 7-8 mins before my server saw me looking at my food and finally brought it over. He then disappeared again. The main problem with this establishment is the servers don’t help each other. I had to keep asking for refills on my coffee and some servers outright ignored me when I said “excuse me”. Several servers walked by my empty plates, no one check on other patrons to see how they were doing, no one walked around with coffee or water for refills. Honestly it wasn’t until a young man with a lot of hair (his hair was so pretty) came in and walked around asking all the patrons how things were and if they needed anything. He is the epitome of a great server. Yes, you worry about your tables the most, but servers are the backbone of any restaurant and need to help each other out if necessary. I watched as many of them congregated and talked, which I’m not against because work needs to be fun for the workers as well, but the service here is what needs to most tweaking in my opinion.
I will for sure be back because the food was phenomenal and I’m sure the service isn’t always like this, maybe some people were having a...
Read moreCame here for the brunch zone on a Sunday with 5 other people, all couples. It was pretty busy but we were sat quickly. The food and drinks were great!
However when we were ready to cash out things went downhill. We asked our server "for our checks". She came over with just the one bill, it shows her name on there as "Kelley Cass C". We asked if we can split it by couples and she said no, she could only split it into 2 even amounts or we could do her job and calculate what each of us owes on it, then she walked away.
The request was so reasonable and normal in a restaurant setting that we were all a little dumbfounded with her answer. After another 10 minutes of making awkward eye contact with her to get her to come back to the table she returns and asks if we've decided what we'd like to do about the check.
In an effort to save time, one of us decides to pay but we tell her how we would have really appreciated her splitting the check and ask why exactly she wouldn't. This time a different answer comes out and she says "well sometimes we can do it and sometimes we can't". This answer directly contradicted her earlier one, so now we've been lied to and the restaurent DOES do this for customers, she just isn't willing to do it for us.
At this point the person who pays notices that the 18% gratiuitiy is automatically added to the check, probably because there are a certain number of us on it. Now it clicks, she didn't want to split the check becuase she didn't want to lose the forced gratuity. What's wild is that all of us work in the service industry and would have tipped her more than 18% percent had she just been truthful and accomodating to us in the...
Read moreI was burning time while picking up my sister from a cruise, so I decided to have an early breakfast. Below is my breakdown. I had the Eggs N-E-way, with turkey sausage. At the time if this review the price was $16.50 which is more than I like to spend.
Customer Service: 100% The server was efficient and took care of me.
Atmosphere: The place is fine for a breakfast spot. It's right next to a motel that didn't look very nice, but they share parking. Just don't expect Orange County level atmosphere.
Food: 90%. My scrambled eggs were just fine. No complaints. The potato pancake was like a small potato burger with the texture of a hash brown. Nice and crispy on the outside, but had chunks of potato on the inside. This was the highlight of the meal and was very good. Maybe the interior could've had less moisture, but it really was good. I need to learn how to make these at home. The turkey sausage was in link form. Honestly, it was just OK and I only had one bite. The bean came with 3 links. Each was a little hard to slice with a fork and the casing was firm enough to cause juices to squirt out. There was no char on the links (there should always be char on sausage links). At least the turkey was lean. The sourdough bread and fruit spread were excellent. The fruit spread tasted homemade. It was thin with no gelatinous characteristics. Nicely done, indeed.
Would I come back? Yes, but I would skip the turkey sausage. I don't like the prices, but I complain about all...
