Nye 10:45 reservation. We waited about 20 minutes for a table. Our server was pleasant but perhaps busier than the waiter serving tables next to us. The guests who were seated after we were seated, had their courses delivered at same time as ours were. Why is this important? We had ordered souffle as dessert from the prix fixer menu. We placed this order at time of ordering entree. Around 11:15 pm. Our entree was brought to table around 12:25 am. By the time for dessert, the restaurant only had cheesecake and chocolate torte cake. Being so late, we just wanted to take dessert with us. We asked for 1 cheesecake and 1 chocolate torte...when we arrived home, the rest packed 2 pieces of cheese cake instead of the choc torte. Also, to save time and room in our tummies for the entree, we requested our steakhouse iceburg salads to just be packed to take home. When I opened it today, there was only a tiny slice of tomato, a very small blue cheese dressing, a few crumbles if bacon. Thats barely a salad. Our dinner cost a whopping 269.00 then add on a tip, for a total of 300 plus. I had high expectations of this restaurant. If it was too late to deliver what's ordered off their menu, they shouldn't offer later seating, and we arrived at 10:40pm, How were we leaving after 1am and not have the items we selected? valet parking cost 8.00. Plus a well deserved tip.
The good: great festive atmosphere in restaurant. Lovely wine selection. Stags Leap by the glass! Also given a champagne fluke for midnight cheer. Warm bread with tasty butter. Crab cake with tartar sauce was a pleasure, real crab pieces formed this cake that was cooked to have a nice crust. I had Chilean sea bass. Perfectly cooked. Squash medley was the veggie. The seeded center was removed making the squash, firm and beautiful in color. The garlic mash, were a true pommel pure, creamy with an essence of fresh green garlic , I believe . My dining companion had the Wagyu NY strip. Unfortunately, a medium rare was rare, with supposed marbling, being more like strips of uncooked fat throughout the meat. The steak was sent back for further cooking, but it never tastes of the original flavor when recooked. 20.00 was added on for wagyu, we were not informed.
Conclusion: we will try this restaurant another day when not an event. Go earlier in...
Read moreI was scouting locations for an intimate surprise dinner party to celebrate my sister's engagement (21 guests). 555 was recommended by a family member and I'm so glad we went with this venue!
Event Planning: MEGAN IS FRIGGIN AWESOME. She was so helpful in answering my (many!) questions. The booking process was straightforward and she went above and beyond to accommodate any special requests & dietary restrictions. On the day of, Megan was so welcoming to us and helpful with our decor set up. She even stuck around throughout the event to make sure the surprise went off without a hitch.
Pricing: pri fixe menu was affordable considering what was included. (We chose a $110/PP option that included choice of starter, choice of entree, and dessert).
Food: The food was outstanding! We had a few platters during cocktail hour and the presentation was beautiful. For our dinner, guests had the choice caesar salad or clam chowder to start. Main selections were petit filet, sea bass, and chicken. Broccolini and mashed potatoes were shared at the table. The sea bass was sooooo good, and our guests raved about the steak. They even accommodated some vegetarians and picky eaters with pasta options. For dessert, our guests enjoyed creme brûlée. The chef also sliced our custom cake and they didn't charge a cake cutting fee.
Service: Ray! Oh Ray made our night. He was so attentive and so kind to our guests. We definitely worked him and the support staff, but he took it on the chin and was so quick to refill drinks and make sure everyone was taken care of. There was a slight hiccup at the beginning - guests drinks were meant to be on separate tabs and that wasn't the case during cocktail hour. I ended up just eating that cost because it wasn't worth the fuss / headache of trying to sort it out at the end. But again. This was only a slight hiccup. Ray was phenomenal and his level of service exceeded every expectation. We couldn't be more grateful.
Valet: Valet is available right outside for $8. This was very convenient since parking in the DTLB is always a fight, especially on a Friday night.
To the entire 555 Team, thank you for making an unforgettable night that much more memorable. I will certainly be back the next time I am in town, and hope to enjoy their...
Read moreI had the most amazing birthday lunch today at 555 East Steakhouse in beautiful Long Beach. We were able to dine in their patio area which was kind of indoors but with enough open air windows it was considered outdoors which was nice. We started with the jumbo Wild shrimp cocktail. I’ve never had shrimp so large! They were delish! The cocktail sauce was nice and perfectly spicy! We then had some calamari which was cooked so perfectly and crispy! I had to try some of their fresh oysters and they were massive and so yummy. For my main entree I had the 12 ounce American Wagyu Ribeye. It was so tender and flavorful! Now for the service! Amazing! Our waiter Tom was so attentive yet not overbearing and annoying. My drink was never empty and dirty plates were promptly removed. He was friendly and made great suggestions from the menu. The entire staff worked together and were all so professional. Nitin, the GM stopped by several times to check on us and made sure we had everything we needed. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate my birthday! On-site valet is available as well as metered parking. Lunch is available weekdays and dinner service nightly. I can’t wait to go back!
**Update 3/26/22 I had dinner at 555 And everything was absolutely amazing as usual! I thought I’d try the 30 day dry aged ribeye for my first time since this is the place I’d want to try it for my first time! It was so delicious and tender and very flavorful!! My friend got the American wagyu and he actually liked the dry aged more. I tried his wagyu and I thought it was delicious with the ponzu sauce they provided with it. Also we tried the baked goat cheese for the first time and It was phenomenal! I wanted more of that with the roasted garlic that came with it. Our oysters were perfectly shucked and no shell pieces so that’s always a good sign! I can’t recommend 555 more! My friends had never been before and they thought it was one of the best meals they ever had! The manager Nitin stopped by several times to check on us and see how we were enjoying our meals. Very professional! I wish more restaurants were...
