I had been researching hair restoration options for two years. After entering perimenopause, my already large forehead began to grow larger as the hairs around my hairline thinned and stopped growing to full length. I narrowed my search to four doctors in LA and OC areas. Dr. Sean Behnam was the last doctor I met with, and the moment I sat down with him, I knew he was the one.

He is incredibly down to earth, gentle, and patient. Zero arrogance despite his skill, experience, and reputation. I immediately felt safe in his care. His calm demeanor and energy were exactly what I needed after a long and emotional decision-making process.

Dr. Sean and his team made the surgery itself as easy as possible by taking extraordinary care to ensure I was comfortable every step of the way. He personally checked in with me about whether I was okay with every small detail. He never made assumptions and made sure I felt mentally and emotionally at ease throughout the procedure. He even brought me juice between repositionings, made sure I got my lunch and regularly checked to make sure I was comfortable. His attentiveness, gentleness, and genuine kindness meant more to me than I can say.

Now I’m in the aftercare phase, and it has been nothing short of exceptional. Dr. Sean and his team have gone above and beyond to support my healing. They’ve checked in on my progress every single day. I have actually visited the office for three consecutive days (going on four), where Dr. Sean and his team changed out my gauze and wrappings and applied ACELL to the donor site, which is at the back of my head, an area I’m still a bit hesitant to touch on my own.

Dr. Sean has also recommended additional healing treatments I can do outside of the office, and every single one has made a real difference. I’ve felt truly cared for at every stage of the process and never once like I was on an assembly line at a “hair mill.” This wasn’t a rushed or impersonal experience. It was complete, thoughtful, and deeply attentive care from start to finish. I felt seen, supported, and completely confident that I was in the best hands every step of the way.

This is long-winded but hoping it can help others:

I started having hormonal acne again after going on accutane two years ago. I decided to see Ben Benham to see what he could do as far as options. He gave me accutane as an option but didn't give me any other advice and said it was up to me. Okay fine. I kind of wanted more wholistic options but went with accutane since he said it would clear them up even though I had been on it before. I wait a month to take the first dose and scheduled my bloodwork. Apparently they never received it, so I had to wait an extra week to take the first pill. Keep in mind they already scheduled a PHONE appointment for me every month, one month from when I was SUPPOSED to take my first pill. Then finally get my prescription, take it for a month, have a phone check-in with Ben. He was talking so fast I couldn't get a question in. And I asked him if it was okay that my bloodwork was scheduled a week after our next phone appointment and he said it was. Well, when I had the next phone appointment with him, he said he would fill my prescription. Didn't tell me to take a pregnancy test or fill out my questions online or even mention my bloodwork. He had none of those in order to fill the prescription. I was confused. Then he told me to start taking two pills a day at 40mg each. So I did. Then I had the next phone appt with him and told him I needed my prescription filled as I had run out (because they neglected to tell me to schedule bloodwork in advance of appts among many other things.) Then they told me that I couldn't get the prescription without bloodwork results and I was furious because Ben TOLD ME it was fine. Obviously he has no idea what he's doing and I don't know how he's still in business.

Fast forward to now, when I found a much better dermatologist who told me that 40mg was too much for my weight and she doesn't know why Ben would prescribe that to me (RED FLAG!!). The new place also took photos of my skin (which Ben didn't) and did the pregnancy test in-house (Ben made me buy them myself and do it at home). They also went above and beyond to communicate the accutane process with me which I appreciated.

So basically, stay as far away as you can from Ben. He can't keep your info straight and seems like he has no idea how dermatology...

If you're a patient and you need a good dermatologists then absolutely go to Dr. Benham. He is my life saver. Dr. Ben Benham and his nurses over at Dermaotolgy & Hair Restoration Specialists located in Santa Monica, are the most amazing team of medical professionals I have encountered in a VERY long time! Not only is Dr. Benham an extremely intelligent dermatologist, he's also one of the rare doctors these days that GENUINELY only wants to heal his patients so they're happy and healthy! I'm a 31 year old female and had severe psoriasis all over my body. I needed a specific shot that is $10,0000 (obviously extremely difficult to get from my insurance) For months I went to several dermatologists to get this specific medication but no other dermatologist's office would do anything or if they tried, they didn't how to communicate with my medical insurance agency (which is majority of this treatment). Not to mention that during this whole process of dealing with either disinterested or incompetent doctors, my psoriasis was getting worse and worse by the day (had even started to come on my FACE now!) I was completely out of hope, desperate and depressed so I tried one more dermatologist, I went to see Dr. Benham and his nurse Jessica (who's amazing!) They saw me and the horrific psoriasis all over my body and on that VERY appointment, Dr. Benham gave me relief and told me the way they would get me the shot (covered by my insurance!) within about 2 weeks. They fought for me, dealing with the insurance and pharmacy and I got the shot in an incredibly short time (even over the holidays)!! Because of Dr. Benham and nurse Jessica's true compassion for my horrible skin condition & their efficient efforts to get me the medication, I am now 99.9% clear of psoriasis and I owe it all to Dr. Benham and nurse Jessica! Psoriasis is incurable and has to be treated for life, so they follow up with me and absolutely 100% I will continue to use Dr. Benham as my dermatologist for life!! Thanks again, Dr. Benham and...
