One of the worst experiences here with Labor&Delivery, Postpartum, Anesthesia, and Birth Certificate registration departments. Staff are rude, negligent and do not respect your wishes. You will feel pressured to do a lot of things that are medically unnecessary and there is a lot of fear mongering tactics they use.
They are clueless and start stupidly asking you to make decisions that your doctor isn’t requiring. The nurses will pressure you to formula feed if your breast milk doesn’t come in soon after delivery.
The baby scales are not accurately calibrated. In turn they will send you off on a mentally challenging journey of telling you your baby is losing too much weight when it’s an inflated number to begin with because of all the IV fluids they’ve pumped you with while delivering. If you have a nurse named Leigh, ask the charge nurse to switch you. She is deceptive and will act like she’s there for you but she’s really just another crappy nurse who will pressure you to do things using the tried and true cedars method of fear monger.
The world needs to know this is NOT a baby friendly hospital because they take massive funding from formula giant Emfamil. They will force feed your child formula if need be. They are extremely pushy and a terrible hospital. Do NOT trust ever giving birth here.
Also, Providence St. John’s in Santa Monica is a better hospital especially with Anesthesia options! Cedars does not provide laughing gas which is something that would have been helpful given my circumstances. Cedars doesn’t make money off of it so they don’t offer it.
I have several OB/labor and delivery Anesthesia consults and I was told given my circumstances with my back they wouldn’t place a spinal block in a specific area and of course the attending anesthesiologist didn’t even try to look at all my back scans and Still placed it in the wrong spot. Causing me excruciating pain for 45 minutes while trying to complete the spinal block (which is 6 needles). My screams were heard all the way to the front of the Labor and Delivery unit from what the nurses told me while I was in the recovery room waiting for my postpartum room.
Lab Tech that came to my room to draw blood was extremely rude when I told her the test they’re trying to get blood from me for was already done. She got very angry and started yelling at me saying she was just doing her job when she didn’t know my chart and didn’t know I had that bloodwork done the day before!!
The people delivering food can be extremely rude when they come back to pick up your trays because you’re asking for more time! I wish I could make this part up. I was breastfeeding and I asked for more time because I wanted privacy and the woman picking up the tray Still shoved her head into my room behind the curtain and rolled her eyes when I said I need more time to eat! And she blurted out “FINE”…
Once it was time for birth certificate registration, my husband and I filled out the forms and added our child’s Suffix. The person didn’t do their job and didn’t add the suffix. And we didn’t see it on the verification letter. Later we found out the suffix needed to be added with an amended birth certificate. These people mishandled our paperwork so much. I had to push on the phone while postpartum to get a manager on the phone. Waited over an hour to get some sort of solution! Triple check everything they give you including all the fine print!!
AVOID giving birth here as much as possible! I went out of pocket to give birth here and none of it was ever worth a dime for the mental and physical abuse I endured and the trauma/PTSD I now have from...

I am deeply concerned about the conditions and practices observed at the facility. Here are the issues I have noticed:
Lack of Professionalism: There appears to be a significant lack of competence and dedication among some of the younger doctors and nurses. Their communication often seems misleading or insincere.
Sanitation Issues: The facility is not maintaining proper cleanliness. Floors, chairs, and other surfaces are often dirty, which raises concerns about overall hygiene.
Improper Handling of Medical Equipment: I have observed nurses dropping medical equipment on the floor and then reusing it on patients, which is a serious breach of infection control protocols.
Quality of Psychiatric Care: The psychiatric department appears to be lacking in effectiveness and quality of care.
Discrimination and Neglect: I witnessed a blind Black man in the waiting room who appeared distressed. Despite his need for assistance, the hospital staff did not communicate with him. Another patient, a homeless woman, had to offer help, which highlights a concerning lack of empathy and attention from the staff.
Staff Distracted by Personal Phones: Staff members are frequently on their personal phones, which distracts them from providing proper care to patients.
Infection Control Concerns: The hospital's sanitation problems contribute to the spread of disease, raising concerns about the health and safety of patients.
Welfare and Institutions Code (WIC) Section 5150: Violation: If a patient under a 5150 hold is not provided with appropriate care or is mistreated, it could be a violation of the standards required for handling involuntary holds.
California Code of Regulations (CCR) Title 22, Division 5: Violation of Infection Control Standards: Regulations require hospitals to maintain proper sanitation and infection control. Failure to clean floors and equipment or reusing contaminated equipment could violate these standards. Violation of Patient Rights: Regulations mandate respectful and equitable treatment of all patients. Discrimination or neglect, such as ignoring a patient's needs, can be a violation of patient rights.
Health and Safety Code Section 1250: Violation: This section requires that hospitals provide a safe and clean environment for patients. Sanitation issues and inadequate facilities could be violations of this code.
California Code of Regulations (CCR) Title 9, Division 1: Violation: Standards for psychiatric care and patient treatment are outlined here. Issues related to improper psychiatric treatment and inadequate care can be violations of these regulations.
California Business and Professions Code Section 2266: Violation: This code outlines the standards for professional conduct and ethics for medical professionals. If staff members are not maintaining professionalism or are distracted by personal activities, it could be a violation.
Health and Safety Code Section 1280.1: Violation: Requires hospitals to investigate and address complaints related to patient care and safety. Failure to properly address patient complaints could be a violation. suspect...
Read moreMY BROTHER KENNETH ADAMS (R.I.P.) WAS BROUGHT IN JUNE 27 2024 THRU THE AMBULANCE FOR A BROKEN ANKLE THAT HE RECEIVED FROM AN ASSAULT, HE HAD SURGERY ON HIS ANKLE JUNE 28 2024, THE HOSPITAL SAID THAT HE WAS DOING FINE AFTER HIS SURGERY AND HE WAS RESPONSIVE, UPON MAKING THE DECISION TO RELEASE HIM, MY BROTHER WENT INTO CARDIAC ARREST AND DIED JULY 1 2024 FROM WHAT THEY BELIEVE WAS A PULMONARY EMBOLISM. FAST FORWARD TO JULY 30 I RECEIVE A CALL FROM LAPD DEPARTMENT OF NOTIFICATIONS TELLING ME THAT MY BROTHER DIED. KEEP IN MIND ME AND MY FAMILY DID NOT KNOW MY BROTHER WAS DEAD UNTIL RECENTLY JULY 30. MY BROTHER HAD BEEN DEAD FOR NEARLY A MONTH AND WAS ALREADY AT THE CORNERS OFFICE. THE HOSPITAL CLAIMS THEY CALLED MY DAD, WHO LIVES ALL THE WAY IN MISSOURI, TO ATTEMPT TO MAKE HIM AWARE OF MY BROTHER'S DEATH, BUT MY DAD NEVER ANSWERED (SO THEY SAY) THEN ALMOST THIRTY DAYS LATER I RECEIVE A CALL BECAUSE MY BROTHERS CASE WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE LAPD NOTIFICATION DEPARTMENT. I RECENTLY TRIED TO GET MY BROTHERS MEDICAL RECORDS (AUGUST 2, 2024), BUT THEY TOLD ME TO COME BACK WITH EITHER HIS DEATH CERTIFICATE OR HIS BIRTH CERTIFICATE TO PROVE MY RELATIONSHIP TO MY BROTHER. MY FAMILY HASN'T BURIED MY BROTHER DUE TO THE INVESTIGATION THAT IS TAKING PLACE TO SEE IF HIS DEATH IS RELATED TO THE ASSAULT THAT WAS CALLED IN BY MY BROTHER BEFORE HIS ANKLE SURGERY. SO ASKING FOR A DEATH CERTIFICATE IS OUT OF THE QUESTION RIGHT NOW. AND IF YOU CAN CALL ME AND TELL ME MY BROTHER IS DEAD BUT CAN'T PROVE I'M RELATED TO HIM WITH OUT A BIRTH CERTIFICATE TO OBTAIN HIS MEDICAL RECORDS IS VERY ABSURD AND SUSPICIOUS. MIND YOU, I HAVEN'T SPOKEN TO A DOCTOR OR A NURSE FROM THIS HOSPITAL ALL THE INFORMATION TOLD TO ME ABOUT MY BROTHER'S DEATH IS COMING FROM THE LAPD DEPARTMENT OF NOTIFICATION AND THE CORNERS OFFICE. I BELIEVE IN MY HEART THAT THIS HOSPITAL OPERATED ON MY BROTHER AND SOMETHING WENT WRONG DURING HIS SURGERY THAT THEY ARE NOT EXPLAINING. I WANNA KNOW WHO OPERATED ON MY BROTHER? WHAT MEDICATIONS WAS GIVEN TO HIM AFTER HIS SURGERY? I WANT TO KNOW WHAT WAS HIS HOSPITAL STAY LIKE? I WANT TO KNOW HOW SEVERE WAS HIS ASSAULT? I WANNA KNOW HOW LONG WAS HIS BODY AT THIS HOSPITAL UNTIL HE WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE CORNERS OFFICE? WHY WAS MY DAD THE ONLY PERSON THAT WAS CALLED, WHEN THERE ARE MULTIPLE FAMILY MEMBERS THAT COULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED. I WANT THIS HOSPITAL TO KNOW THAT I AM PREPARED TO SEEK JUSTICE FOR MY BROTHER IF HIS DEATH ISN'T RELATED TO THE ASSAULT HE CALLED IN. IT WILL NEVER SIT WELL WITH ME TO KNOW THAT MY BROTHER CAME IN FOR ANKLE SURGERY AND WENT INTO CARDIAC ARREST TWO DAYS AFTER HIS SURGERY AND DIED JULY 1ST AND MY FAMILY WASN'T NOTIFIED UNTIL JULY 30 OF HIS DEATH. I AM TALKING TO A LAWYER ABOUT THIS AND WAITING ON AUTOPSY PAPERS FROM THE CORNERS OFFICE. I'M READY TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT HOSPITAL NEGLIGENCE AMONGST PEOPLE OF COLOR, ESPECIALLY BLACK PEOPLE. I LOST MY UNCLE IN A DIALYSIS CLINIC FOUND UNRESPONSIVE IN A RESTROOM BY HIMSELF, I LOST A COUSIN AT CENTINELA HOSPITAL WHO WAS GIVING BIRTH AND RECEIVED AN EPIDURAL SHOT THAT PARALYZED HER FROM THE WAIST DOWN WHICH SHE DIED FROM A CLOT WHILE GIVING BIRTH, NOW MY BROTHER. THIS SORT OF NEGLIGENCE AND BRUTALLY NEEDS TO BE SPOKE ON AND I WILL NOT REST UNTIL I GET JUSTICE FOR MY BROTHER, KENNETH ADAMS (NO...
