The store is definitely for people who have money to spend. There was a beat-up pair of chuck tailors that I saw $25. I think it runs about 60 bucks on the Convers website. There's other thrift stores that wouldn't sell it anymore than $15. Probably 10. But that's obviously not the point of what they're trying to do here. They're catering to people with a specific esthetic. Individuals who wanna look poor but obviously are not? Lol
They do have some really interesting costumes. Like disco seventies type of stuff , flapper party dresses, marching band the uniforms, cheerleader uniforms, the like. I did buy a belt here a while back that was $15. The painting on it chipped 2 days after I brought it home. However, I literally have not seen one like it ever. Even after all these years.
As far as the stuff that was falling apart.... the stuff that was falling apart that I saw was in the 50% off section. I don't know. Maybe if you're into fixing things up and making it into something new, it can be a good use?
All in all, this is a vintage boutique, not a thrift store, so keep that in mind when you're coming here. I'd say it's a great place to go if you wanna have fun with a friend and try on funny outfits and have...
Read moreHere’s what I will say after my time of seasonal work here. The staff is very knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. Alex, Gloria, and Tracy are go-to’s if you need to find something or want to put a specific look together. Prices are on the higher end, so don’t be too surprised, but there are affordable items, especially if you don’t mind a bit of damage, there’s a 50% off section in the basement with plenty of Options. That being said, my biggest issues are with the attitudes of management. There was a strong emphasis on security with all of the employees, they are all required to watch and report any items customers carry with them. Which makes sense since it is crazy hollywood after all! However, I have noticed a tendacy towards profiling customers who come into the store. there was a time we were asked to keep our eyes on a black kid with a hoodie, who the manager suspected of stealing. We were all asked to watch him, even at the dressing rooms. Even after it had been confirmed that he had nothing in his pockets, and had even spoken to the staff in a friendly manner, the manager insisted we continue to watch him. That being said if you are a person of color, or homeless. You might be at risk of...
Read moreI live walking distance from this store and have been meaning to stop by. Today I finally made the time to stop in and am so glad I did.
I was looking specifically for something to wear to a concert. They had a variety of fun items like sparkly bell bottoms and tops. Also a lot of vintage tees and sweatshirts. They had an epic Fleetwood Mac sweatshirt but it was unfortunately way too big. Someone go grab it!
I ended up getting a vintage t-shirt for my boyfriend, a sparkly top for me, a vintage handkerchief and some adorable fun earrings.
The store is sunny and well organized.
As fun at the store was and as much as I like the items - I mainly wanted to write this view because of the customer service.
Dev was the one who helped me and she was such a sweetheart while maintaining professionalism. She greeted me as soon as I arrived and stayed close enough that if I needed her she was close by but didn't hover.
She was patient and helpful while I found what I wanted and just radiated good vibes. It makes all the difference for a shopping experience when the employees give that kind of energy!
I will certainly be back at some point! Thanks, Iguana!!
P.S. Come here if you're looking for a...
