I couldn't have asked for better service, and I owe it all to the incredible assistance provided by Alex, one of their top-notch team members. You have been warned. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY! Everything was fine until I returned the car and the woman inspecting it found a small smudge along the rear quarter panel, something that could have been rubbed out. She insisted on making a claim and they charged me $979.00 to "repair" that smudge. I thought I was saving a few bucks by avoiding the big rental car companies but as you can see that didn't happen. I'm 65 and have been renting cars for decades and NEVER have I had a claim for damage against me. It was my mistake not taking pictures of the car when I picked it up. I have no idea if that smudge was there or not but, regardless, $979? Scam artists. Pic of "damage" included. UPDATE 10/22/25: After reading my review, Midway contacted me to try and "work things out" because they take customer service "very seriously". Of the $979 they charged me to repair a small smudge/scratch, they credited me approx $300 for one item on the body shop's invoice, that being the removal of the bumper or a bumper part, which even Midway thought was unnecessary to repair that little scratch. When asked by Midway if, after issuing the credit, I would consider renting from them in the future, I answered honestly: NO. I'm still out $684 for a tiny little scratch. They hide behind the body shop, saying they aren't the ones who drew up the invoice, that they have no control over the repair costs. BS. They shouldn't have even made a claim for such a minor scratch that could have been fixed with a little touch up paint. Clearly they go over every returned vehicle looking for any excuse to ding their customers. I appreciate the credit they gave me but I would never take another chance renting from them. Like I said before, in the future I will stick with the big companies because they have always given me great service and have never done me like Midway.

The agent was able to pop that corner bumper back in location and you can't tell or see any damange. However, because it was popped out when I returned it, I had to own it. OK, fine - but I'm fighting it because there's no proof that it wasn't damamged before. The photos they took before I took the car off the lot could have easily been taken when the bumper was pushed in. Not only that, they esitmated for this simple damage was $1800 see the photo. Also - the when I took the car off the lot - it wasn't even a full tank. It was 3/4 of tank and they told me to fill it back up to that point when I returned it. Stuff like that doesn't bother me much but what is really bothering me right now is this estimate. No way to prove that the damage was there prior and no way to prove that I actually caused that damage....but at the end of the day, it's the renter that is going to eat up the cost.

SCAM ALERT – AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I’m sharing my experience to warn others: DO NOT rent from this company. What seemed like a great deal turned into a frustrating and likely costly ordeal.

When I arrived to pick up the car, I was hit with a surprise $14/day mandatory liability fee—something that was never disclosed upfront. While I reluctantly accepted and signed an itemized agreement, that fee should’ve been clear from the start.

The car itself was fine and ran without issues for the three days I had it. They took detailed pre-rental photos, which felt more like a Turo experience than a typical rental. I returned the car with a full tank and on time.

That’s when things went downhill.

During the return inspection, an employee pointed out a tiny smudge that wasn’t in the original photos. I honestly thought she was joking—it was such a minor mark, it looked like it would wipe off with a damp cloth. But she insisted on filing a damage claim.

I was then asked to fill out a long form with basic info they already had in their system—while I was rushing to catch a flight at LAX. They also demanded my insurance info, which I didn’t have on me, so I had to scramble to get it. When I explained how stressed I was, the woman eventually let me go and said I could follow up later.

Soon after, I got an email with a copy of the rental agreement—but this version wasn’t signed by me and had a $300 charge added to it with no explanation. I sent in my insurance info and they filed a claim, but I never got a clear answer about the $300. After multiple emails, they finally refunded it.

The alleged "damage" is barely visible, and when I asked if they could just wash the car to see if it came off, they pointed me back to the same laughable photo they sent to my insurance.

Bottom line: this place is a scam. They’re clearly running a game to extract money from renters and insurance. Save yourself the stress—rent from a real company or try Turo. Just DO NOT give these people...
