I don’t think I’ve ever been more frustrated or let down by a “restaurant” in my life.
My boyfriend and I had just landed and were hungry after a long flight and had a three hour layover. We thought, “this works out great! LAX will have lots of good food for us to eat!”
So, we got off the plane, used the restroom, and wanted to scope out our gate before we went looking for a place to eat.
After getting off the plane, we saw that we had to take a shuttle bus to our gate. Again we thought, “no big deal! There will be food near this gate, and if not, we can walk to another area that has food we want.”
WE WERE WRONG.
The shuttle bus took us to an island of gates that were completely isolated from the rest of the airport. Okay? Odd, but we hadn’t lost hope yet. Surely there would still be many food options here, right?
WRONG AGAIN.
We looked around the tiny area and there was only one place to get food - Natural Break. We each got a sandwich and a cookie, water and a bag of chips, and it was over $70?!?!? That’s more than many of the delicious meals we just had in HAWAII.
Not to mention the food was sooooo sub par. It was high school cafeteria level. And they robbed us of over $70 because they knew we had no other choice, being stranded in that area.
What a great way to end our vacation! Seriously, it makes me so mad that 1) the airport didn’t do a better job of telling us where we were headed to for our gate - if we had known, we would have grabbed food before being stranded over there. And 2), that they had the audacity to charge us that much for such shitty food?!??
If you ever have to go to gates 52A through 52I, get food somewhere else before you get stuck...
Read moreEat inside main terminal 5 before you take shuttle to regional gate 52. This is definition of price gouging.... didn't read other reviews until already here .,.. other reviews that main terminal is much more reasonable. 22.00 for a sausage, egg and cheese croissant and 8.00 for a coffee.
The croissant was not fresh, it is prepared earlier, then microwaved-too long for the cheese and not long enough for sausage. I can't even describe what was wrong with the egg.
Flying companion got just a soft drink since I was riding, $7.00. We did not see vending machine tucked away at one end that was $3.00 less for same number of Oz's.
American airlines appears to be only airline at this regional terminal operating with some other like Skywest. THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED TO ALLOW THIS TO THEIR PASSENGERS. I GUESS IT SHOULD NOT SURPRIZE ME. THEY REMOVED ANY SIGNS OF COMFORT, SERVICE AND CONVINCE FROM THE PLAN YEARS AGO....
This experience is not the fault of Airlines but of LAX and Los Angeles....AS A REPRSENTATION OF ONE OF AMERICAS LARGEST CITY IT IS A DISGRACE.
This restaurant is only option for 10 gates. Review asked if dine in or take...you can't dine in...small table area for maybe 3, good...
Read moreI’m not sure if it’s LAX’s fault for only having one place to even get food at the poor portal for lost souls that is gate 52 “plus a letter” or the fault of the people who make the food- but after a red eye flight where you are so groggy that anything you eat is supposed to be tolerable..... nothing sold here was tolerable. Paid 26 bucks for three pastries, some milk for the kids and a coffee. The scone resembled a dog chew toy in consistency, the mocha seemed to have been poured from an old shoe. They were friendly as many reviewers before have said ... my wife is busy chastising me for even leaving a review because surely nobody who eats here is doing it by choice (if you lined up- it was because there was no choice and you needed food) .... but as was the case with me- it was cathartic to read reviews in the aftermath of the tragedy that was breakfast at LAX that empathized with the experience I had just had- and hopefully this will do the same for you- because whatever you bought...
