Title: Unethical Store and Poor Customer Service
I have been a customer of 99 Ranch Market for many years and even hold a membership with them. Because of this, I feel it is necessary to share my recent disappointing experience from this new store.
I purchased lotus roots from their store, intending to use them to cook pork rib soup. The pork ribs were purchased from another store. After cooking, I discovered that the entire soup was inedible—it had turned very sour due to the spoiled lotus roots. Upon inspecting the remaining lotus roots in my fridge, I confirmed they were also spoiled. This meant my entire dish, including the ribs, was ruined.
I immediately called 99 Ranch Market the same day to report the issue. The first representative I spoke with seemed helpful and promised to escalate the matter. The next day, I spoke with the store manager, who informed me that they could refund the lotus roots but refused to compensate me for the pork ribs, simply because the ribs weren’t purchased from their store. The manager claimed they had no authority to make further decisions and advised me to contact their headquarters for a resolution.
When I followed their advice and contacted the corporate customer service, the experience became even worse. Not only did they avoid taking responsibility for selling spoiled lotus roots, but they also tried to argue that it was “normal” for lotus roots to taste sour. This is completely false. I provided evidence from online research showing that sour lotus roots are a clear sign of spoilage, but they failed to provide credible evidence to support their claim. Instead, they sent me a vague article in Chinese from Baidu, which didn’t even support their argument.
The entire back-and-forth with their customer service was dishonest and frustrating. Despite offering me a refund for the lotus roots and a $10 gift card, they refused to acknowledge the problem. Their responses were evasive, and when I asked to speak with a supervisor, my request was ignored.
This experience has left me with a terrible impression of 99 Ranch Market. Their customer service is unprofessional and unethical, and they lack accountability for the products they sell. I would strongly advise others to think twice...
Read moreImma be real witchu. This is a Westwoodified Ranch experience— near a major University— outta all the other 大華超市s in da state— this gotta be the tiniest one. It’s maybe because of the smaller size and footage— but it delivers a lot of the basics of your Dahua Ranch expectations.
I would say it’s Westwoodified because it tries to be inclusive of other Asian products outside of Chinese-brands, there’s foods and stuffs that are Japanese, Korean. There’s some Indonesian, Malaysian, Filipino , Thai, Viet, Indian— inside— but it’s very specific and it again it depends on whether you know what you are looking for… I think it caters more towards items that maybe be popular among youths more— they have a huge selection of sweet treats, drinks, ramen, and frozen goods.
It’s a great Ranch tho despite its size! The staff and security ppl are super duper kind always and I do pretty well with what I can find in this smaller Ranch anyways.
This is a great stop for people looking for big seafood-meat section I think… and there’s a ton of cool frozen/dried pantry sweet stuff— a lot of intriguing candy I wouldn’t acquire elsewhere (I found a Japanese lemon honey candies in the shape of stars?? Super good) interesting tanghulu hawthorn/plum flavored popsicles.
The bakery is good— cakes and buns are awesome. just don’t order drinks because they take super long— no one’s fault— theirs usually only like one person working the bakery and they gotta do it all so I think you are better off buying a drink from the drink section!
They also have a section dedicated to gift set goods-sweets which is super convenient if you are college kid grabbing things for a gathering or gifting...
Read moreThe cashier YINGFEN KU and the customer service at this branch of 99 ranch is insulting and hostile. Long story short, they accused me of stealing after I paid my 41 items grocery because the shop didn't put the price tag on one box of strawberry.
Miss Yingfen Ku was very unfriendly to begin with when she checked me out my items. When Mis Ku found there was one box of strawberry had no price tag, she looked up and said angrily "why this one has no tag" like it was my fault. Her manager stopped by and found that the shop forgot to add the price tag and told Miss Ku that box of strawberry might be $2.99 without checking the actual item while I had to correct them that the item should be $3.99. Then Miss Yingfen Ku threw the item back to me and said, "I am not checking this out, you go to the customer service for this item.", without telling me where the customer service was. I haven't been to this branch for a while, so after checking out, I asked the security where to find the customer service . When I talked to the security, Miss Yingfen hopped out of her station, yelled at me on the top of her lungs across the entire shop: "Hey, have you paid for your strawberry? You can't go without paying it." Her colleagues at the customer service backed her up by saying:" How could you not see us. "
Even when I was paying for the item at the customer service, they still went on the non-stopping: "How can you not see us."
This behavior is rude, insulting and not acceptable. I will not go grocery...
