Read moreHands-down one of the best ice cream shops I’ve ever been to. Saffron & Rose Ice cream shop is located on the famous and busy streets of Westwood. So granted parking would be a couple of loops around. But you will for sure find parking one way or another. And there is lots of street parking. Right when I walked in it was my lucky day because it was not too crowded. Always see this shop full of people laughing and enjoying their ice cream. Right away my mouth started drooling because I saw all the delicious ice cream in the freezer and rightfully so I started to sample some. What’s amazing about Saffron & Rose is that their own company makes the ice creams and come up with the flavors. So unique flavors like Date or Pomegranate or Orange Blossom are just a few of the amazing unique tasting flavors they have. I tasted about six, everything I mentioned above plus their espresso flavor, hazelnut and walnut. I could not get enough of these delicious flavors and how unique and bold they each were. I decided to stick to a traditional mix which is their saffron pistachio ice cream with faloodeh, which is this noodle like ice cream that has Rose water inside. Moments later a wonderful gentleman by the name of Freddy, who was helping us out, got all of our orders ready, the rest of my party also ordered the same thing as me, and it was time to dig in. WOW!!! Can I just have a moment to myself. Who? What? Where did this even come from? How is this so good? My mouth was having a sweet 16 party. I mean so many ingredients and so dense and rich in flavor. The saffron and pistachio ice cream was so creamy and the pistachio inside was fantastic! So fresh and I could taste them in each bite. Just amazing. I can not wait to go back and try more flavors. How can I stay fit now that I have discovered this little heaven...
Read moreIt was my cheat day, and I was craving ice cream. I'm thrilled to have stumbled upon Saffron & Rose Persian Ice Cream!
Service: The service here couldn't have been more hospitable! The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The owner, who happened to be there, asked if it was my first visit. When I said yes, he immediately offered me samples of the three most popular flavors. He then followed up with samples of his three personal favorites, which I ultimately chose. I also appreciated how patient and caring he was while training a new employee. Regular customers seemed to know him well, and he took the time to chat with everyone.
Vibe: The shop is small and simple, but it has a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that made me feel right at home. It's clear that not much decoration is needed when the focus is on such fantastic ice cream.
Ice Cream: I tried the three most popular flavors: Saffron Pistachio, Pink Rose, and Cucumber. However, I ended up choosing Passionfruit, Taro & Ube, and Amazing Almond. Here's my take on them:
Passionfruit: Refreshing and not overly sweet. Taro & Ube: A perfect blend of two root vegetables with just the right amount of sweetness. Amazing Almond: Packed with almonds, simple yet incredibly delicious.
While enjoying my ice cream, I noticed bottles of juice by the napkins and spoons. When I asked about them, the owner enthusiastically introduced me to a Persian specialty called "Faloodeh" – a rosewater-flavored ice with crunchy wheat-based noodles. You add fresh lemon juice and cherry juice to it, then mix it up. It was super interesting and delicious.
All in all, I will definitely be back. If you're in the area, you should...
