It’s a cute and cozy little Iralian restaurant on Westwood. There is easy parking on the street and at night, it’s free.
It’s right on the corner and they do not take reservations. A small table is out front with a lust that you add your own name to. First cone, first served. There was a party of three before us, but since they had room for two people, we were seated.
It’s pretty loud inside as they try to pack in as many tables as they can. They immediately take your drink order and bring them quickly. Next a server comes by and tells you the specials, and then your waiter comes by to take your order.
We each got a glass of wine, and a salad. You can get each salad large or small. The small is plenty. I had a very fresh caesar and my wife had the Bietole E Noci (has roasted red beets) and they were both good. We split the Gnocchi Scampi and the Gnocchi All’arrabbiata. Their gnocchi is made fresh every day so why go with anything else. The gnocchi was light and fluffy and plentiful. The scampi dish had a ton of sizable pieces of fresh shrimp in it and the all’arrabbiata had a nice kick. Their fresh bread that had a nice crunch to the crust and soft inside easily aided in stemming the heat. We wanted dessert as everything looked delicious but were totally full.
The staff was friendly, quick, and helpful in finding the perfect order.
The crowd is mostly UCLA students.
If you’re in the area or not, stop by and have a fantastic meal freshly made that day. You will walk away full and satisfied. And in your happy place.
For me, I’m sad they don’t gave a location near me in Illinois as they are hands down my new favorite...
Read morePerfection! So pleased to have found Pomodoro Trattoria! Finally, a delicious, authentic Italian restaurant with affordable and generous portions to take my boyfriend out on dates to without depleting my bank account!! The restaurant is very small, but it has a quaint and cozy feel to it. As it got later into the evening, it got very crowded and bustling with patrons inside the small dining area, and all the talking in the small space made it quite loud. I also wish that the lighting was dimmer, the lights in the ceiling above you are so bright and threaten to ruin the atmosphere!! They serve you with complimentary piping hot bread and olive oil and vinaigrette, I almost got full just off of that! Thankfully, I saved enough room to enjoy the entrees. We ordered a linguine al pesto and one of the pollo parmigiana dishes. Both were very generous with their portion sizes, less than $15 (quite remarkable for quality pasta in LA), and absolutely magnificent. The pasta was so creamy but not too heavy, the perfect balance. I also loved the chicken and it's cheesy tomato sauce. A wonderful dinner date, I'll be back! Thank you for a quality AND affordable...
Read moreWe love this place! During the pandemic they did awesome takeout (and still do) and kept us well-fed. We order for pickup once a month or so. Any time we eat in, we’re well taken care of.
The seating is tight as the restaurant is small, so I’d recommend sitting outside if you have a stroller or little ones.
We love anything with the bolognese sauce, and I agree with the other reviewers that the risotto is good. My husband loves anything gnocchi from here as well! Note that many of the dinner options that aren’t in the pasta section do still typically come with some spaghetti with tomato sauce so you won’t miss out on the pasta.
I also often will get the tiramisu- it’s a big serving so I share it with my husband. I’ve seen others note they can’t taste the coffee, but I haven’t had that problem and I’m someone who can drink espresso by itself. Their tiramisu is definitely sweet, but also light and enjoyable in my opinion!
Highly...
