The food: decent, not great or anything, but okay.
The service: HORRIBLE. I'm just coming back from there. There were three people today (Nov. 9, 2016, Wednesday) serving mainly: a tall middle-Eastern man (my main waiter today), a middle Eastern (probably Iranian) young woman, and a Mexican man. Today's Wednesday, and there're not a lot of people, may be 5-6 couples. Here're my observations:
I finished my appetizer (which was good in taste) and just started eating my main course, the Mexican guy came to the table and asked me if I needed a box. I had lot of food remaining in my plate, and it was obvious I'd eat more. So, I felt pretty strange, but still said "Eventually" twice (first time he didn't hear me very well). After 2 minutes, he passed by my table and dropped off a box, didn't look at me, and went away. I consider the whole thing pretty rude. Also, I'd expect my waiter to wrap up the food for me, rather than dropping the box like that.
About 15-20 minutes later, I finished half of my main course (chef's special saffron rice, just okay in taste), and put the plates aside so that they'd understand from far that I'm done eating it. The young woman and Mexican man passed by me couple of times, and didn't even look at me. My main waiter, the tall middle-Eastern man roamed around to talk with some Iranian couples in Iranian, and never came to my table to see if I needed anything, or never bothered to ask me if I needed desserts. I waited for around 8-10 minutes like that, raised my hand, and asked him to come to my table. To my surprise, he came with the check, without even bothering to ask me whether I needed dessert. So, I finally asked him if I could take a look at the dessert menu. He said yes and brought it. But I didn't order the dessert, so I paid. I was really frustrated with their service, so I just gave $2 tip because he, UPON ASKING ONLY, packed the food for me. But I VOW to never go back to this...
This restaurant goes way back in history, been there for decades and have seen better food and worst than what you get today but most IR restaurants have apparently fallen in quality at least in West LA area. Had the Naderi Soltani,($40) when the dish was being placed on the table the meat's "Zokhm" unpleasant smell was the first thing which came across(where are the days when the aroma of chelo kabob was irresistible), then the form of the Koubideh was the next issue with zero of the waved form a koubideh with must have that also effects the taste it also had NO texture , it was kind of like was made by a Mexican chef who knows nothing about Koubideh and then very dry maybe because of flour type of additions used to keep the meet glued together. The chengeh was better, soft I hope not with the help of tenderizers, it was fillet but not cured hence the smell. Dough was good and sure enough will make you sleepy so was the Tea. Zolbia and Bamieh much better than what you get next door at Attari. Months before had Their Tah Chin which was good. The service by an IR gentleman...
Read moreHighly recommend!! This freshly remodeled restaurant has the absolute best food, premium service, and warm atmosphere of all the Persian restaurants in town!!! Every time we come here we get treated like royalty. From the gorgeous blonde hostess, Kitty, to the super polite waiter, Alireza, to the fantastic busboy, Cesar, there’s no comparison to any other Persian restaurant. I cannot even eat the kebab at other places anymore because it is so tasty here!! Highly suggest you try the Soltani, salmon, Adas polo, koobideh… You can’t go wrong! Make sure you start with Tadik. Then you can end it with hot teas and heavenly home made Sholeh Zard. I feel at home here and the food reminds me of my childhood. Thank you for giving me the experience. We are so grateful! (I was so hungry. I forgot to take pictures before eating, but here’s a snapshot of my tea & dessert...
