Let me start by saying that I love Scent Bar DTLA and have made several purchases from this location. Recently, my best friend flew into LA and I wanted to give her the Scent Bar experience I have grown to love and have a slight addiction to. So I decided to visit the Hollywood location for the first time on 1/20/24 and did not have a pleasant experience. I was very excited to see a couple of the scent influencers I am familiar with on social media. When we entered the store, there were only 2-3 customers there. After receiving help with trying to find the right notes/perfumes, etc for purchase from one employee, I think his name was Bobby (the second star is for him) a couple of other customers entered the store. However, it was not crowded. We continued to have a pretty good time with the selections given when Steve approached only us to say we had a 30 minute limit and to make our selection now. I have been going to Scent Bar for a few years now and have never felt like I was in the way nor irritating an employee. There were several people there who were there longer than we were that had not been alerted of a time limit. I didn't appreciate how short he was and tone. I can appreciate having a time limit; however, it doesn't feel welcoming when you are singled out to hurry up and make a decision/purchase. He also was not aware that we were waiting for his colleague to see if they had the scent I wanted in stock. Ultimately, instead of purchasing all three selections I had chosen, I only purchased a travel size of one of the fragrances. Read moreCame to this place all the way from Santa Monica yesterday hoping to find a perfect perfume for myself and buy a birthday gift for my mom. However I was completely disappointed with an attitude and absolutely unwelcoming behavior of one of the two staff members at the store who made me feel very uncomfortable.
At some point, after showing me several fragrances she approached her fellow junior employee and started whispering about me in my presence "I don't think she's planning to buy anything"... and then added in a louder voice "BUT THERE ARE ALWAYS SURPRISES Y'KNOW".
First off, I explained to them at the very beginning of our interaction that I was sensitive to scents but really hoped they would help me find something that I would love. I even provided them with the information on the fragrances that usually work great for me. And no, I never stated I was planning to buy a perfume without trying it.
That scene really gave me a bad taste so I politely thanked them for showing me the perfumes and a sample they gave me, and then hurried to leave the store.
I’ve never seen such an unprofessional, impolite and condescending customer service except for the movies (this is where Pretty Woman meets Mean Girls).
I went to Bloomingdales right after and bought fantastic Tom Ford perfumes both for myself and my mom. Suffice to say, their customer service was top notch, on a par with a billion dollar company which they are.
Not planning to come back to this place, but they really do have a good selection of niche perfumeries....
Read moreBest store I’ve ever been to. First, I’ll start off that. I’m a very picky buyer when it comes to perfumes, it literally takes me hours to decide. Anyway, yesterday I got to the store and when I came in I immediately felt the good energies of the employees that work there, always smiling, always offering you nice perfumes to try and it’s safe to say that they know what they’re about when it comes to knowledge and when you try to describe what perfume you want they always hit the spot. There was a girl named Susanna that really helped me for literally hours!!!! She never gave me the feeling of someone’s pushing you or making you feel uncomfortable, she was like a good friend. I had 2 perfumes that I had really hard time to pick between them. I ended up getting an amazing perfume that i didn’t know before and she gave me another sample of the one I purchased and I’m addition the other one I was thinking about . She told me “ Go home sleep on it and worst case come tomorrow morning and switch between them, it was an amazing idea that eventually got me to really switch the new one I got cause I wanted to have something that I already know.
