Pretty happy with this venue! It's super new (compared to the numerous veteran venues in Los Angeles) so it's unsurprising that a lot of the venue still looks/is well kept.
According to the website, the capacity is 1500 people which is a nice inbetween-ish size of the Troubadour and Wiltern (two other venues I enjoy). I attended a sold out show and really enjoyed being up on the second floor which was accessible to anyone. They do have elevators (not sure if accessible to anyone because I didn't need it).
The Troubadour is still probably my favorite in terms of how intimate the venue feels, but the Bellwether is definitely in my top line up now. You're still decently near the stage even at the back. I can't guarantee the view will be good depending on your height because there's no different levels of elevation the further back you go so there is that.
I arrived an hour before doors open so I have no idea how tough parking can get if you decide to arrive later, but there is a parking lot right across from the venue that I highly recommend if you can get there before it's full. It was only $15, which is great considering parking is usually a minimum of $25 in most lots I pay for at LA concerts. The website says there's parking behind the venue, but I was told when I got there that it was for staff only. Any staff I interacted with at the venue was nice/fine.
Pro tip: If you can afford it/make it, I highly recommend eating at the Virginian which is attached to the Bellwether. It opens 1 hour before doors open and it gives you direct access to the balcony of the venue as soon as they've let some people in line into the venue when doors open. So to be clear, eating here won't guarantee you front row stage to the venue, but you will still get a really great spot without having to stand outside for hours! Unsurprisingly, the food options are limited and a bit pricey, but that's just the nature of the restaurant-bar industry. Still, I don't regret it! They do take credit card.
If you're entering through the front entrance from being in line, there's a nice lounge you enter into where there are some seats for anyone to just lounge around which is really nice if you need a break from standing. The bar is also right there as you enter (plus in the back + second floor in the actual stage area). This lounge area is also where the merch tables will be set up.
All in all, this is a great venue to go if you fav's are performing here. This is only my first time, but I look forward to seeing more shows here and hope to continue having a...
Read moreThe Bellwether has to be one of the coolest venues I have been to in DTLA. It is pretty big with several sections like an upstairs balcony for a better view of the musicians performing.
I was really happy to be able to come here for the first time and to see Mates Fest no less. It felt amazing getting to see so many of my favorite musicians perform in one place.
Even though the parking situation was a huge drag (there was not any free parking in the area, you have to either pay to park somewhere or park really far) the venue itself totally made up for it. Many of the workers seemed very inviting and were so friendly to us and everyone that was there.
The stage area was comprised of a bottom floor and a top floor with a balcony. I didn’t get the chance to go up there but I imagine the view was a lot better albeit further away from the stage. The view from the bottom can be a little rough since the stage isn’t super elevated off the ground. If someone taller than you is standing in front of you, good luck.
One thing that also really stood out to me was the lighting and the presentation of the musicians. It was honestly really cool and made the shows a lot better. In addition to this, the sound and everything was on point. A stellar...
