I had an extremely disappointing experience at Chicken Guy yesterday that left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. While my three friends waited in line to order, I stepped into the line for the restroom. An employee stopped me and said I couldn't use the bathroom unless I was a customer. I explained that I was a customer, our group was about to place a large four-person order, but I just needed to use the restroom first.
Instead of showing any understanding or flexibility, the employee doubled down, saying I could only use the bathroom after we ordered. When I expressed that this seemed unnecessary and unreasonable, the employee escalated the situation by gesturing to two nearby police officers and telling me that if I had a problem, I could "talk to them."
That felt like an absurd and aggressive overreaction to someone simply trying to use a bathroom while waiting in line with friends. The officers informed me that the business could technically refuse service to anyone, which would make me not a customer and thus ineligible to use the restroom. The whole interaction felt hostile and needlessly confrontational.
We ended up leaving and going next door to Shake Shack, where the employees were in noticeably better moods, treated me kindly, and, unshockingly, allowed me to use the bathroom without issue. My group obviously ordered there instead and had the best fried chicken bites I’ve ever had. Based on both the treatment I received I would strongly recommend skipping Chicken Guy and heading next door instead (and the noticeably larger crowd at Shake Shack would lead me to believe others agree with that...
Read moreVisiting L.A. for a little mini-moon get away. Happened across this place while hitting up a main attraction for us.
It was pretty good. We ordered the chili oil chicken sandwich and the banana pudding shake.
The fries were fresh. Nice and crispy, with a dense but soft chewy center. Kind of a mix between McDonald's and In-and-out fries. Pretty good.
The chicken sandwich was yummy. While the patties were two different sizes, think it's because they were chicken tenders stacked on top of each other. The chicken was cooked well. Nice crispy batter and a juicy meat. However the thing that stole the show was the coleslaw. While there was some chili oil drizzled on the chicken, it was mostly in the slaw. That slaw was finger licking good.
Which is opposite of what it should have been. Still a decent sandwich. Would come back to try out another sandwich the next time we're in the area.
The banana pudding shake was according to my wife, very sweet. Given that it's a banana pudding shake. Kind of figured it would be sweet, but she felt it was a bit much. However she did say it had a nice rich flavor and still drank it all (minus some excess whip cream)
Again, overall a fun place to try out a quick easy bite. Lots of fun and seeing Guy Fieri holding a...
Read moreFirst time here, I ordered the CG classic, and the wife had the tenders. Personally was expecting much thinner tenders for the sandwich, idk how people like it, but it was a bit of a challenge keeping it together by the end. The sauces were good, except the donkey sauce... which just tasted like straight mayo... the tables in the front were a bit dirty to no fault of the staff, they seem underpaid and overworked as it is. Would think a name like Guy could afford a decent kitchen crew but I digress. Im sure keeping a spot on hollywood blvd comes with its own challenges and the leasing price is probably one of them. Which brings me to the price. 40 bucks for what we ate is a little absurd. The ingredients arent expensive... like for example, shredded lettuce on a fried chicken sandwich. Normally I would want slaw here, but thats not the case... basically serving cafeteria style courses with Hollywood prices. I dont see this being sustainable if thats what this place aims to be. God knows Ive seen a million other restaurants come and go in this same spot, so I guess only...
