You MUST walk to the Breakwater to truly enjoy your day. When the wave is high and closes in on that long row of rocks, the water hits them. This creates a huge cascade of water high enough to feel the ocean spray on your face. You gotta get a little close but not too close. Make your move after seeing how the water flows a few times. It really is amazing to watch the waves that are created by this force of nature. Makes for some peachy keen surf riding too. I'm taking surfing lessons this summer. Storm drain leading out to the rocks is covered with very slippery green algae. During higher tides, waves do break over the rocks, so be mindful if your going to climb on them. Quite a few folks have gotten hurt when crashing waves wash over them.
No swimming is allowed near the rocks (North or South side) due to the very strong rip currents. Lifeguards will come over and tell you to get out.
