CUSTOMERS BEWARE!! I visited this store for the first time 2 months prior. I wasn't greeted and the girl at the register barely looked up. I thought that was pretty weird and unprofessional. So thanksgiving week I decided to give this store a second chance thinking maybe the girl was just having a bad day. Bad idea! when I visited this second time and entered l wasn't greeted or acknowledged AT ALL . But this time there were ATLEAST 4 female associates behind the counter. All of them just glanced at me and didn't say anything. Keep in mind there were no customers at the register. Nothing like this has ever happened to me until visiting this store let alone having 4 associates standing at the counter while they aren't even ringing someone up. I felt ignored and was so confused. I didn't want to waste my trip so went into an aisle that wasn't too far from the counter to look for what I initially came for. While browsing I hear one of the associates at the counter greeting a customer that walks in. I looked back and saw an older Caucasian couple. I was shocked i didn't know the associates even knew how to speak. So I proceeded to go to the rack closest to the register thinking maybe they just made a mistake and they'd have to greet me/speak if I'm right near the counter they're all standing at. Still no one said anything, just looked up at me. By that time another customer walked in the door and GUESS WHAT?! She was greeted promptly!! The female customer was also Caucasian and the 4 associates at the counter are as well. I'm a POC and immediately realized the situation, they can greet customers but just not me.I was facing discrimination and being treated unfairly. I immediately left after that. Not what you'd expect in 2022 from a secondhand store in Madison heights which is a city full of diversity and people from different backgrounds. I really wish i would've looked at the review section sooner to save me a trip and from being treated unfairly. it's loaded with bad reviews about racism at this location and the owner doing nothing. That's very alarming and i blame management! Besides condoning this behavior you sat there and hand picked these associates to represent the store .That are clearly incompetent at their job (failing to greet ALL customers or assist them)and way too comfortable being openly racist or discriminating. I think that's very telling and a clear reflection of management and the owners. This situation is inexcusable/horrific and I will be filing...
Read moreThis place is BS of your selling your clothes here, I took 3 bags of nice stuff here twice with brands such as Mitchell and ness, adidas, nike, levis, express and some other brands along with a few pair of shoes all Adidas that were only wore a few times, and some of the clothes were brand new and everything was in good shape, no stains tears or anything like that and they didn't buy one thing. I didn't understand this at all as I looked around their store and seen all the garbage they had there, my stuff was alot better then 90% of what I seen in there. I believe the problem is the lady's that buy there, I don't believe they know how to buy men's clothes and as I looked at the store and noticed only maybe 20% of the store was for men's clothing that must be another issue. From what I hear they don't even give you peanuts for your gear anyways so I'm glad they didn't purchase anything anyhow. If your looking to sell go to regeneration, you'll have a much much better experience here if your looking to sell. They bought around 20 pieces from me after I left Plato's closet. Skip Plato's if your looking to sell it'll be a complete waste of an hour or more of your time especially if your selling men's clothing, they have no clue on what's good merchandise from what I seen in the men's department at least, I mean some of the stuff was completely beat up or it was Wal-Mart t shirts and ugly sweaters. I didn't see that much name brand stuff there beyond levis and express, there was a few Nike pieces but beyond that just garbage, garage sell looking clothes in the men's department. They really need a man's eye in there for the men's clothing because the women there...
Read moreKind of bummed to be honest. This place has a really great selection, especially if you want basics. The problem is just the customer service. I'm a retail manager, and if any of my employees acted like these girls do, we'd have some serious coaching to do. A note to those selling too: if you think it's been forever since they took your items, go check on them. The 20 mins I was told doubled, but I was trying to be polite, letting them do their job. I noticed the girls after me with MORE items were called, I waited maybe another 10 mins, then I finally asked. My items had been done for awhile. If anyone had given even half a s* about me as a customer, they would have realized that I had been circling the same aisles for quite awhile. A simple, "We have your items finished, whenever you're ready" would have made all the difference in the world. Even after that, the girl ringing me explained absolutely nothing. I wanted a few items, and she just handed me 2 dollars and some change. I asked if she just swapped what I was selling for what I was buying. She said, "Uhh yeah, I thought that's what you wanted" Umm... you never asked? That was fine, but they never even told me what my items were worth! Kinda sucks. I could spend a fortune in there, but I'm not entirely sure that I'd like to give them my money. Management needs to get on it, because I'm reading through the reviews, and I'm definitely not the only one with...
