Unfortunately, my experience at George's Apparel was incredibly frustrating, and I will not be returning. Back in April, I went in to purchase a tuxedo and specifically requested a 44S. The man assisting me suggested a 46S (I’ve grown, LOL), but since I have short legs, I need a short to avoid looking shorter with a longer coat. The fitting process itself was rushed, and the woman who did the tailoring seemed to be in a hurry, not pinning or marking anything to ensure the right fit.
Two weeks later, I went to pick up the tux and tried it on—everything was off. The pants were too tight, and the jacket was too long and tight as well. To make matters worse, I discovered that the jacket was a 46R instead of the requested 46S. When I brought this up, there was no apology, no acknowledgment of the mistake. The tailor agreed to fix it but mentioned that the coat could not be returned after alterations.
I was told to come back in three weeks, on May 14th. Concerned about the quality of the tailoring, I called the store the very next day instead. A manager assured me that he would order an actual 46S and that it would arrive in a few days. Two weeks passed, and I never received a call. I called again on May 15th, but no one knew what was going on. A woman said she would investigate and get back to me, but again, no call came. So, I called once more today (the 17th), and they told me the tux had been shortened from the 46R. I reminded them that the manager had told me they’d ordered a 46S, and they assured me that was there and we could swap out the altered 46R if we needed to.
When I arrived to pick up the tux, the staff seemed completely disorganized. The woman asked if I just wanted to take it and run, or try it on. As if I would not try on a tux they had messed up on. I requested to try on the 46S after trying on the altered 46R, to see the difference, but when she came back, she told me they didn’t have it. At that point, I was done. I spent around $500 on a tuxedo that still looks poorly fitted, and there was no offer of compensation, no apology, and no real effort to make things right.
I won’t be going back. Next time, I’ll make the trip to Concord for my suit needs. I hope your experience is better if you decide to give this store a try, but I would definitely...
Read moreI was recently in to George's to have a suit tailored for my wedding. I spent time researching tailors in Manchester and they came highly recommended. Entering it is kinda confusing with no real front of the store and the employees were a bit frazzled. I had called first and they explained you could just walk in. I waited to be seen and was originally fitted very quickly by one gentleman who was working. No measurements just chalk. I was a bit caught off guard but figured from the website they do this all the time. The manager (or at least the one with the worst attitude made a comment and I just brushed it off and paid the 140 fee) no problem. I looked around and there was a jacket I liked but not for sale but I asked "where I could buy said jacket or something like it" same manager said something along the lines of pointing me to go shop somewhere else. I asked when coming to pick up my suit for the jacket to be a bit taken in at the waist. And there it was. "You are trying to tailor a Men's suit and you are not a man". I thought the point of a tailor was to customize material to fit a person. It's sad that in 2023 there is still a problem with homophobic behavior. I am a person just looking for the right fit for my wedding to a person I love. The woman who helped me at the end of this experience was super professional and nice. But you sir...
Read moreLast fall I came in to purchase a black suit to wear at a Masonic gathering. A polite elderly man assisted me in selecting one. He then had me try it on and made some tailoring marks for adjusting the coat and pants. I picked it up and took it home. When days later I dressed for the program, my wife said the suit was way too big and looked terrible. I came home that day and said I would take it to my tailor. I fell ill in December and was hospitalized until the end of February so the suit waited. This past Monday my tailor looked at it and said she could do nothing to save it. I am very said that a $429 suit looks so poorly adjusted. But before I condemn your business I will return it to you for alteration or ever replacement. Many my my lodge friends were shocked when they saw it and surprised it was ever from George’s. Frederick Chenevert Updated: I visited the store and they immediately responded with concern and said they agreed that the fit was wrong and a replacement suit was ordered. That is Five Star rating and review in my book. Georges stands behind their sales!
