I've spent the last 4 years in San Diego, and eating Mexican food almost on a weekly basis. It was something I will miss around there. New England doesn't have to many good Mexican joints as most are expensive sit down restaurants with non-authentic dishes. El Rincon, by far has the best Mexican food I've had in the area. Very authentic, delicious, and reasonably priced.
UPDATE: It breaks my heart to do this, but upon my last experience here, I will be removing a star from my review. The food was great as always, but the service was exceptionally bad that night. When we first got there, it was pretty busy in there, so I don't blame them for our food taking a little longer to come out, but by the time our food did come out, it was really starting to clear out in there. After our food came out, they didn't bring the proper size meal for our son, and so i asked for another order. As we ate, our server was seen mostly just standing around chatting with the employees. We ate, but my son was very hungry and getting grouchy and we couldn't share our meals with him because of a dairy allergy. I reminded her again, and we were already done eating. Still brought nothing to us. Then she brought our check, still no extra food for my son. Then came back with our receipt, and after she left, she finally came back with the food we ordered. It was painfully slow and by the time she brought it, my son was getting tired and we had to leave. Definitely was not a fan of our service that night and I can only hope it was a little hiccup, because I really like the food here, and I don't want bad service to taint the experience of a place like this. It...
Read moreWe moved to New Hampshire from Texas 3 years ago and have struggled to find Mexican food that was even close to being on par with what we could find in Texas (Auston area and RGV). We've had dozens of places recommended to us and all of them were whelming at best. El Rincon was actually recommended to us early on after our move and we had made a plan to go try it out l, however, a car accident on the road we were taking had shut down the road and we had to change our cars plans. This past weekend, we were in Manchester for an event and were surprised to discover that El Rincon was only a few blocks from where we were so we decided to finally give it a try.
The restaurant is a quaint "hole in the wall" which, in Texas, is usually a good sign that the food is going to be good. I can confidently say that it also holds true here!
Everything from the chips and salsa, the tamales (first place in NH we have found that actually has the meat inside), the beef fajita tacos, and the cheese enchiladas were absolutely delicious! My wife is half-Latina and from the Rio Grande Valley, so her standards are high and she was in heaven with the food, especially the flavor of the beef fajita.
We will absolutely be back and when our south Texas family comes to visit, the hour drive to eat at El Rincon will be...
Read moreOrdered a chimichanga with Chipotle chicken. I'll describe the side first. It came with a side of beans and rice. The rice was good, properly cooked, great texture, no strong flavor, didn't detract from the meal, but wasn't exceptional in a way I could describe in any detail. The beans, however, were light and fluffy in a way I don't believe I have ever had in a Mexican restaurant. I'm interested in knowing what might have been done differently to create beans with such a light consistency. But let's get to the chimichanga. I don't often order chicken chimichangas, as they are usually on the bland and dry side for me. This one was drizzled with what appeared to be a bit of sour cream and a bit of Chipotle sauce. Fairly heavily cooked and crispy on the outside, tender moist and steaming on the inside, I tasted a forkful of the crisp outside and shredded chipotle chicken filling, and I was absolutely amazed. The Chipotle chicken had a dark rich smokey flavor with a light lingering kick of spice that created a chimichanga which was hands down the best I have ever personally tasted. That chipotle chicken has created a craving i don't feel for many foods. I must go back and try this ingredient in yet...
