Best 1st couple vacation . My future husband and I met in 2001 and fell in love at first sight. This was in 2004. We had both been on vacations with our families when we were young children and even family reunions as adults. He taught me everything about hunting and fishing as he was a country boy and I was a city girl. So I don't count hunting and fishing trips as vacation as I love being with him at all times, but that's not my type of vacation 🙃. By the way on my first camping trip I brought makeup and a curling iron. He laughed so hard when I unpacked them. He said with a straight face, you know that there are no "currant" bushes up here in the mountains right? He always said that was the best joke he ever told! But I digress. Our trip to Oregon was our first trip as adults with out our parents which we found extremely exciting and actually made us feel like kids again, but free to do what ever we wanted and go where ever we wanted with no one telling us NO! 😀 We found Manzanita on accident as we were driving south and saw a sign and turned around. It is a very simple and small beach town which is absolutely perfect! Pristine non crowded beach. Lovely little stores. And on that trip a little festival. This became our go to place twice a year until he passed away in 2009. But I still try to go every few years. Thank you my beautiful town for my favorite...
Read moreI live in the town of Wheeler, but I drive down to Manzanita every day to go to the ocean. It’s sand is white, the beach is long, the waves are spectacular. It is so much fun to watch the dogs are running on the beach because it’s so pristine. People in any weather come out with their chairs and they’re half dome’s to watch the waves crashing on the beach. It is truly a gem of the. North coast of Oregon. The air is clean, and when you’re done with the beach, you can walk up the street and go to one of the bistro‘s, bars, pubs. And have an amazing meal and drink. If you’re coming to spend a week or weekend, do you wanna make your reservations way in advance because it is really a popular place...
Read moreThis is a sight to see on the Oregon coast, as you head south on the 101 you will come around a curve high above the surf and see the long sweeping Manzanita Beach. Every time I have been through here the wind is blowing, must be a surfers paradise. If you have your fur babies with you this is a dog friendly beach. This a very pretty area, just south of here you go through a dune covered forested area and back out along the ocean. On our way to Newport and clam chowder at Mo's. As always leave it better than you found it...
