Location Location Location!
We were looking for just the right place along the Oregon coast for a quick weekend away. Our first priority was to be on the beach with a view of the Ocean and all of it’s happenings. We found the perfect place in Manzanita. This 3 bedroom / 3 Bathroom home across from the beach in Manzanita is perfect. It is a convenient 5-minute walk to town! It is really well appointed and very comfortable. The furnishings are in good condition, not worn, like so many other rentals. There are 2 bedrooms on the main floor, both with Comfortable Queen size beds. One has an en suite bathroom, while the other has the bathroom right next door. The bathrooms are great. They feel new or updated and very clean and nice. Downstairs is where the kids (I happen to be a 66 year old kid) will reside. It has a huge family room with couches, chairs and a big TV. The downstairs bedroom has 3 sets of bunk beds, which will sleep 6 people, if you had a group large enough. I slept on one of the bunk beds and it was perfectly comfortable, even for my age. There is one very large and well-appointed bathroom, which also has a washer/dryer in it. And plenty of towels… The kitchen is on the main floor and is open concept to the dining area and to the living room. Again, it is well appointed and has most of what you will need to make a great meal. (Could use a good cutting board) There are 2 huge decks. The front deck, facing the ocean, is where we sat most of the day, watching the kite surfers, people with their kids and dogs playing on the beach. This deck has 6 Adirondack chairs that could fit all of us. It really is a perfect social gathering place. The side deck is almost as big and has the outside dining room table, the BBQ, and more chairs on it. There was a big, very authentic fireplace that heats the house perfectly at night, but the electric heating also does the trick if it is colder outside. This place can be great any time of year…cozying up to winter storms or enjoying the great Pacific in the summer sun! This property is really well cared for and you can tell the owners take their job seriously. If you are looking for a great ocean front rental property, this is it! We had a great time and will...
Read moreThis was a great house for our family reunion. It was much better then the average homogenous anywhere house that has no character. We learned this is one of the first (existing) houses on Manzanita beach. It is apparently 100 years old, but the owner remodeled the house, took it down to the studs, kept all the wonderful original fir and other architectural details, upgraded plumbing, electrical insulation, put in a new heat pump system, new double pain windows, then replaced all the existing original details that make this house the perfect beach house. We especially love the big kitchen (my wife is a semi-professional cook and enjoyed it immensely) but the kitchen held many of us, so when we were trying to help we didn't get in each other's way. There were lots of separate spaces to hang out so the kids didn't feel they had to spend the whole vacation with old people. They were usually found playing pool or ping pong, or hanging out watching whatever on the big screen tv downstairs. The older generation appreciated having the great room (with great ocean view) mainly to themselves. We also appreciated the huge dining table where we could all gather together. We have yet to find a house that seated so many of us for dinner. Later, we would clear the table and play games or cards at the table, all while overlooking the big ocean view. Or we would sit out on the deck and enjoy BBQ, or the crab we caught earlier (try Kelly's Marina. We all loved it). All the rooms were well situated for our group, especially the two bunk rooms, one for the girls and one for the guys. The five bathrooms meant we didn't have lines for the bathrooms, since there are seven bedrooms. Although we had to draw straws for the masterbedroom with private bath and an area to sit and work. With a great view of course. Evenings were spent either on the beach or around the firepit eating s'mores. Always a must. Kids enjoyed biking at the local state park. Adults loved being able to let the kids run free in Manzanita. A place we all love. We are already planning next year's family trip here, and plan to make it our annual family get...
Read moreThese are super cute houses in a really awesome location! Though the ownership is a mixed bag and so is the safety/cleanliness of the properties. Unfortunately, this company’s female owner Kim Bergstrom, is greatly lacking honesty and integrity.
I’ve already transparently posted our entire 2 years worth of conversations; I don’t see why Kim wants to challenge this review by doing the same thing. Hint. It won’t actually work out in her favor. This could have been a really great opportunity for the company to stand up, be accountable, have maintenance schedules and make a few important safety improvements. The owner of this company/management of the company is refusing to be honest, even when the facts are laid out in front of them. This is her 3rd response to my review over the last 5 days; & all 3 have been differently filled with untrue statements.
Updated: A number of the safety issues I presented, were almost immediately addressed by Eric (one part of ownership) within a couple of days. Only after this fiasco though. For example, dryer vents have been checked/clean now. I can not speak for everything though. This review is an accurate statement regarding my personal experiences at these properties and with this company. Additionally, this is not a local Oregon Coast business. If you want to support local workers and the Manzanita economy rent elsewhere.
A ‘revenge review’ as this has been called, was made due to the lack of care regarding safety issues (mostly fire related) being presented and documented at these rental properties; that was intentionally being ignored by ownership and management over a long period of time. If the owner had even a sliver of ‘proof’ to dispute all this, she would have already been providing that, keep that in mind. Lastly, her story of how her family is connected to the community is not genuine. It is in fact borderline insane the amount of lies she’s willing to spew to her clients, employees and potential short term tenants in relation to...
