I live within the area and so whenever I happen to be in Arbor Lakes, I would usually stop by Ulta. Typically my visits are okay, no issues for the most part. But I went there this one distinct time with a friend of mine, I'm looking for specific items to purchase and wouldn't need any assistance for that exact visit. But I remember specifically this one older female, short almost grey pixie like haircut with glasses - who happened to be a worker there, she comes by and asks us if we need any help. I tell her politely, "No thank you, I've already found what I'm looking for, I just want a cleanser from Mario Badescu." She proceeds to nod her head knowingly and brings us over to this skincare line that I've never heard of before, hands me this cleanser that has strong perfume in it. She goes on about how these products from this line is being used by "professionals" and over generalizes her knowledge about the brand in order to sell it to me. I have extremely sensitive skin and I know for a fact that my face will react horribly to unfamiliar products that I've never used before. She starts picking up these kits and just hands them to me, one after the other and I'm just standing there looking at my friend really confused. My arms are full of the products that she's pushed onto me by that point. Since I have really bad reactions to some products I use, I typically research in depth about the list of ingredients that I know I should avoid. But I felt as if since I was a young adult, who's in her 20's that I was treated in such a way that I wouldn't know a lick of knowledge for skincare and cosmetics.
And so after she leaves me with all of these skincare products that I don't need in my hands, I put them away. I go grab what I need from Mario Badescu and I head on over to the Bare Minerals section for foundation. She's there again, sees us and asks if we need any more help, I tell her no but obviously she won't listen again this time. So she brings us over to PUR Minerals and shows us their compact foundation and then proceeds to try and shade match me without asking for permission. I see the two selections that she has chosen for me and I tell her that the one shade is obviously too orange and dark for my light tan complexion. She just brushes off what I say, thinking that it'll be a perfect match and proceeds to swipe that orange streak across my cheek. By this time, I'm pretty frustrated and I just want her to leave us alone. She then tries to place the flat top mineral brush into my hands and I just tell her no. I don't want to spend my money on some mediocre brush, with animal bristles sourced from an unknown country and a cheap plastic handle for that matter. I understand that I may seem like a naive teenager that's just walking into Ulta because, "OMG, makeup" but hope that the workers from this Ulta location get to see this comment because this pusher attitude towards customers is what really turns us off from buying anymore products. I understand that this is a retail and there's guidelines that need to be met but there's a fine line from actually helping out somebody versus annoying them. Or judging them based off of what they appear like on the outside. Another side note that I wanted to add was that I saw that same worker again, leading another customer who was a middle aged woman to the same skincare brand from beforehand. So I'm guessing is that they need...
Read moreMe and my sister decided to go to ulta so I could show her this foundation I recently bought. I normally don't buy make up from ulta but I tried this one and spent $40 on it and fell in love with it. My sister was trying on the shades and then I left her to go look at eyelashes and then a worker approached my sister. She was a short lady with brown hair and hair grey roots and green eyes. She asked." May I ask what you are doing? " So my sister said just looking. She said may I ask why are you looking at this product and my sister said because my sister uses it and loves it! She preceded to tell her the product looked cakey and made her face yellow and that she is going to need a deep exfoliation after putting that on her face. She then went on farther to ask her how she applies her foundation. My sister told her with her fingers and she said THATS THE WORSE POSSIBLE THING! She asked if my sister used an oil-based foundation and she said yes and the lady said WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT!?!? She was very rude and started asking her quiz questions. She felt like she was challenging her. Then I came up and saw they were talking I had eyelashes in my hand they were on sale so I was gonna tell my sister about it. The worker said to me SO YOURE THE ONE USING THAT FOUNDATION??!??!? ..I was in shock I had no idea who this lady was and why she was yelling at me.... I couldn't speak and she goes I don't mean to be mean or make you feel bad but that's HORRIBLE for your skin and I said OKAY well I like it and she started telling me I'm gonna ruin my skin and all this stuff. (Why would they sell it if it was THAT bad) I also mentioned to her I paid $40 for that product because it's a good match for me and we were curious about how it worked on my sister. I know this lady was a worker but I started thinking maybe I knew her somewhere from the past and we had beef. That's how strong and rude she was. Then she told us she had 30 years of experience to show her credibility... HOW EVER little did she know I am liscensed Cosmetologist.......
Read moreI got my haircut in their salon a month ago. The woman who cut my hair was very sweet, but my haircut was awful. My hair naturally parts at the side, she gave me a middle part, I asked for side swept bangs, I got bangs not side swept, My bangs are a complete mess. I have curly hair, and I asked for layers. You can't tell I have layers in my hair. I called customer service immediately after I left the salon, and they contacted the management team at the salon. Salon management moved quickly to schedule an appointment for a correction haircut. My correction appointment was with Val. Val is by far the rudest human being I have ever encountered!! I explained to her what I had originally asked for, even showed her pictures of me with the haircut I asked for. She rolled her eyes at me many times and told me nothing was wrong with my haircut. I pointed out the differences. She continued her eye rolling and condescending attitude. I told Val that if she didn't want to cut my hair, I could reschedule with someone else. She said she wasn't giving me attitude. She then picked up a piece of my hair like it was a dirty tissue and made a face. She then attempted to part my hair about an inch above my ear as if I was a man with a comb over. Val's nasty and unprofessional treatment of me pushed me to my limited. I told her I didn't want her to cut my hair and left. I have never been treated so poorly. I am walking around with a haircut where strangers come up to me laughing, asking if I cut my own hair. After dealing with Val and her rudeness, I called customer service, expressing my desire for a refund. It's been a month and I'm still waiting for my refund. DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON!!! If you do go here, DO NOT USE VAL! Val is unprofessional and needs a lot of customer service training!!! I would hate for another person to experience her condescending attitude and leave the salon...
