Subject: Formal Complaint and Demand for Immediate Resolution of Data Loss ā Service Order #1784-250820-81095
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to lodge a formal complaint regarding the gross mishandling of my computer service at Best Buy Store #1784 in McAllen, Texas, which has resulted in the loss of critical data valued in the thousands of dollars.
I brought my computer to this location under Service Order #1784-250820-81095 for a straightforward hard drive upgrade and gave explicit instructions to back up all files prior to installation of the new drive. When I returned to pick up my device, I was assured by your staff that all of my data had been successfully preserved. However, upon requesting that the computer be powered on in the store to confirm, I discovered that my data had been completely erased and that the ābackupā your staff created contained almost no information.
I was instructed to leave the computer for further recovery efforts, including an Apple specialist who was supposedly going to perform a disk recovery and use additional software to retrieve my data. I complied and left it for another week at your request, extending the total service time to 16 days. This morning (sept 2nd) I received a text stating the computer was āready,ā but when I picked it up, my files were still missing.
To make matters worse, when I spoke with the General Manager, Ileana Torres, of Store #1784 today, she was completely unaware of this situationāclearly demonstrating a serious breakdown in internal communication and oversight, compounding the negligence already displayed in handling my property.
Despite repeated assurances, only 13GB of data have been recovered from a fully loaded 256GB drive containing valuable contracts, business records, and irreplaceable files. This represents an egregious failure to provide reasonable care and constitutes clear negligence. I also spoke with the Geek Squad supervisor, who said she could send the computer for a hard drive recovery to attempt retrieval. Two additional weeks have now passed with no resolution and no further recovery of data.
I hold Best Buy fully responsible for the following: Loss of data and consequential damages caused by your mishandling of my property. Failure to meet basic industry standards for data protection and backup procedures. Misrepresentation of services in assuring me my files would be safely backed up. Failure of management oversight, as even the storeās General Manager was uninformed of this serious incident.

First Product I am a big gamer, and recently I bought a PS5 Pro and realized let me see some possible accessories like headsets, chargers, storage explanations, etc. It is not once in a while or anything, but every single time the shelves would just be empty. They do have a lot of controllers and charging stations but only display 3-5 headsets at most and no storage expansion, which is just flat-out disappointment. Second, nobody can help you. There is nobody that will help you with what you need in the gaming section at all. It's not their fault they are doing the best they can, and that's ok, but why send someone who does not know what they are talking about? It's just best to tell me they don't know what they are doing than me wasting my time. Third Why the hell am I calling a ārepresentativeā of your Best Buy over simple questions I called Best Buy? The one here was still awful and uninformed. I wanted to ask if they had the product I was looking for available, but it would make more sense if someone who is calling from the store to answer the question that a ārepresentativeā and proceed to tell me you can pick it up in Corpus Christi casually, which is a 2 1/2 hour drive best case scenario of not stopping and then another 2 1/2 hour drive back, so in total a 5-hour drive at best for a product the website claimed to have? Following this, I still went to your Best Buy as it claimed it had the product I wanted, so why is it when I show up it isn't there? I was told their next available appointment was on 05/03/2024 and we scheduled it. On 05/03/2024 I received an email from Best Buy stating they had a āglitchā in their delivery scheduling system and now my appointment was moved to 05/09/2024. This left me in a huge bind since I had guests arriving that weekend and was relying on having a working washer in my home to keep up with the extra demand. When I spoke with the Scheduling Manager and explained the situation, he told me there wasnāt anything he could do to change the new appointment for 05/09/2024 and offered to give me a gift card to compensate for my inconvenience. On 05/09/2024 things only got worse. The delivery team arrived at my home with the new washer and once they removed the broken washer from the laundry room and set it in the entryway to my living room, they placed the new one in itsās spot and began to work on connecting the hoses to it. Somehow the installers broke the water valves that the hot and cold inlet hoses connect to and we had water gushing everywhere. We had to turn off the water for the entire house to get it to stop. At that point the delivery men left my home, leaving my old, broken washer in the entryway to my living room. After that I received a phone call from Best Buy saying there was an incident in my home with their installation team members and somebody would be contacting me with a claim number within 24-48 hours. I tried calling the number I was given for support and apparently thereās no one to actually speak to because my only option was to leave a message.
