Having been to the original location in Muenster Texas, We were excited when they opened a location in McKinney. We enjoyed most of their wines when we had visited them before period but this past saturdy night I believe has terminated our relationship. Now I am not going to tell you what hours you should run a business, but shutting down at 9:00 p.m. on a saturdy night seems a little bit early. But I digress, we walked in at 8:30 and were promptly told at the front door that it was last call. We walked 20' to the bar to get a glass of wine that we would have happily taken with us, and yes that is legal in downtown McKinney, but in that 20' we were then told by the bartender that last call had already been done and he could not sell us a glass of wine he could only sell us a bottle to go. When we told him we would be happy to take a glass and we would leave with it, he said he could not do that, it was illegal, we informed him that in downtown McKinney open carry of a beverage is allowed in the downtown square, he said he did not know this as he was from Muenster. I think you should be well versed in the laws of the area that you are going to be working in. nevertheless they held firm and would not sell us any wine and less it was a whole bottle in a bag to take home with us. Lack of customer service at this location not a fun time we went and spent 60 bucks across the street at...
Read moreBummed to change my rating, but we are going to stop being members here. They changed their wine club after hiring a somm. The new changes are not good: higher prices already (which we understood completely!), but now the 2 free glasses a week for members is gone and replaced by b1g1. Club now requires more wine buys. They grandfathered folks in last time they changed things but I guess this time they didn’t. The somm is the former gm from Baron’s Creek who kicked us out for walking in with kids (that review is listed somewhere in my reviews) and we were not thrilled to see that 4R had hired him. Maybe he’s nice but the attitude we got was less than kind at Baron’s. I get wanting to make the wine club less enticing to make more money but it’s just too much negative change to stay. While we were there it was completely dead. It’s a bummer because they were our favorite winery downtown and we suggested 4R to everyone. We will probably stop in occasionally to get a glass of wine but we will become...
Read moreWe've been twice now. As a craft beer brewer myself, the best compliment I can receive in this market, with so many choices is, "I'll have your beer again." Well, my wife and I went back for more wine. In fact, we joined their loyalty club. No membership fees, we just are committed to buying 3 bottles of wine, every 3 months, but at a 20% discount. We also get 15% off all other purchases, and some other great benefits you can ask the staff about. I like dry whites, so the Roussanne is my favorite. My wife prefers sweet whites, so she loves the Nectar Nero. The bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable without being pushy. The atmosphere is laid back and relaxed. As the food goes, the flat bread pizzas and charcuterie boards provide a salty, savory balance to the wines and are of the highest quality. If you live in, or are visiting the McKinney area, we can't recommend 4R highly...
