Not your typical on the Mckinney Square rustic restaurant with it’s modern decor and atmosphere. I really enjoyed the minimalist, yet almost chic/trendy approach to style. With two walls completely glass, you have a great view of all the hustle and bustle of the square from the comfort of your booth or table. The beer, wine, chef specials, and dessert menu can be found on a large chalkboard wall. While some reviews have mentioned this is a negative because it is inconvenient and hard to read, we were seated at the furthest booth from the wall and had no trouble at all. Our server Elliott was friendly and professional. I say professional because there aren’t many restaurants nowadays that you get a “sir” or ma’am” with everything. We started with the Macaroni and Cheese Gratin with Grilled Chicken and Sundried Tomatoes. Knowing it was an appetizer to be shared, they served it in two bowls, one for each of us. I liked this touch and even more so loved the rich flavor of the Macaroni and Cheese. Yum! For our meal, I ordered the Smoky Jack Burger with sweet potato fries and my husband ordered the Bacon Cheddar BBQ Burger with the crispy house-cut fries. We decided to split everything so we could try it all! The Smoky Jack Burger was hands down our favorite. While both patties were cooked perfectly - juicy, not greasy with the delicious seasoning - the flavors and textures of the mozzarella, Monterey Jack, bacon, and onion strings combined well together! While I really liked the BBQ burger, I did not feel there was enough sauce and I think the saltiness of the cheddar combined with the saltiness if the seasoned onion strings is too much. The sweet potato fries we agreed were some of the best we have ever had! Cut thinly, they were crispy and delicious. I didn’t care particularly for the garlic aioli that came with them, but they didn’t even need a dipping sauce! I also really enjoyed the hand-cut fries as well, though will definitely be ordering the sweet potato fries again! Overall a really great experience, and we can’t wait...
Read moreOver priced hamburgers. Yes the sweet potato fries with sauce are great, but the burgers... Not worth the price. The meat tasted strange. Odd enough that after 2 bites, I quit eating and left almost the entire burger on my plate, as did the 2 other people with me.
Now as far as service? It was terrible. Our visit started when we were greeted by a crotchety old lady at the front door who looked at us like we were trash. Don't let the tattoos fool you old woman... We are business owners who earn a VERY good living. As if looking down her nose at us wasn't enough, she made a point to come back to our table and ask if we owned dogs. Yes. Yes we do, as do most of the people in here. Now let me make the point, we WERE NOT covered in dog hair. Quite the opposite as we had been out walking around most of the day downtown. She continues to tell us how allergic she was to dogs and that she couldn't stand to be near us, as though we were filthy. Thanks old lady. That's an awesome way to make people feel welcome. How about this: If your allergies are that bad, MAYBE YOU SHOULDN'T WORK IN THE PUBLIC WHERE YOU'RE EXPOSED! Have you ever thought about that? Maybe your snobbish rude attitude is detrimental to the business? This does not even begin to tackle the lack of a waitress. We had to flag someone down, but when it came to paying, she was there in a flash. She showed no concern for the uneaten food or the fact that we were unhappy.
We will never be back, which I'm sure gives her peace of mind. Nor will we ever ask them to host a business meeting or cater as most of our associates own pets and have tattoos.
If you want a good burger, you can get one equal quality, or better, for a more reasonable price in MANY other places. Take your business somewhere you will be treated well and get food quality that matches the menu prices.
Not to mention the MANY complaints about the service on here over the last few years and clearly the management doesn't care enough to make...

As regular patrons of Square Burger, we've noticed the quality of service dwindling over time, but today's experience has put this restaurant at the bottom of our list permanently.
We sat down at a table outside with only three other groups eating in the entire establishment, both inside and out.
Despite this, we waited for fifteen minutes before a server finally approached us. After asking if we had been helped (we hadn’t), he immediately went inside, grabbed menus, and started seating and serving two other groups instead of us.
After five more minutes, we decided to pack up and leave. As we were walking away, a female server approached us with menus and said, “I’ve got menus for you here.” I responded, “No thank you, we are leaving. We sat here for twenty minutes and even told him (pointing at the other server) that we hadn’t been helped for fifteen minutes, and he’s already seated and served two other groups. It’s insulting and unprofessional.” Her response was, “Well… we’re busy,” and she immediately turned around and closed the door in my face without skipping a beat.
I opened the door and said, “Excuse me? Really?” while gesturing to the COMPLETELY EMPTY restaurant with four other employees on their phones behind the bar. “You’re busy, really? That’s your excuse? The restaurant is literally empty.”
I turned around and left as she continued to make excuses.
While the prices at this place are good, the poor service from multiple members of the staff has ruined this establishment for us.
Overall, our experience was highly disappointing. We hope the management addresses these issues to improve the service quality for...
