Chestnut Square Historic Village — Attraction in McKinney

I honestly don’t think you can find a better wedding venue than Chestnut Square in McKinney. We looked at so many places prior to finding Chestnut Square (C.S.) and when we first laid eyes on the property, we knew it was for us! The grounds are laid out perfectly and you have the option of how you’d like to utilize the space. The venue is laid out over an entire block in historic McKinney. There is a beautiful Chapel that we were had our ceremony in, and they also have a garden outside should you prefer to get married outdoors. The bride suite was to die for; it was inside one of the older houses on the property and set up for the entire bridal party. The reception hall was a stone’s throw away from the chapel and Kim, the event manager and day of coordinator, guided guests there as we left to take our photos. They also have a covered outdoor pavilion that we utilized as our “party area” and danced the night away with our family and friends. Kim was amazing and honestly saved us from getting a wedding coordinator. Her services alone would be a reason to choose C.S. over other venues. She coordinated with our DJ, our photographers, our guests, our vendors, etc. to make sure everything flowed seamlessly throughout the evening; she even rang the chapel bell during our first kiss! Pretty spot to have a wedding, but the lady who runs the place is awful. I've attended and helped out with 2 wedding here so far, and both times she was a nightmare. This most recent time, she not only ate a bunch of the bridal party's food while they were getting ready, but she also moved a bird nest from the outside pavilion and set it in the bushes. The nest had LIVE BABY BIRDS in it. She said that she had to move it because "the birds were pooping on the table cloths" but the fact of the matter is, the table cloths that had stains on them were on the opposite side if the pavilion. It wasn't bird poop,.she just didn't clean the table cloths, and needed something to blame. Not only did she ensure that those baby birds will die, by moving the nest, but she also BROKE THE LAW by moving the nest. No one asked her to move it, she did it all on her own, and half the brides maids were literally crying about it after the wedding.

Hello all ! My wife and I had the privilege and honor of getting married at chestnut square! When I tell you it WAS PERFECT, we were left in awe! Mrs Kimberly Kitchener is the very best in the business. She was very professional and attentive to my wife’s wants and needs. She was very sensitive to my wife’s requests. I have never been so blown away at someone’s professionalism. Mrs Kim was everywhere during our wedding, she greeted everyone and made everyone feel welcomed.

Mrs Juanita and her catering staff were absolutely immaculate. The food was top notch. Thank you to your wonderful staff!
