I was very disappointed in this park, especially the splash pad. I understand that every item on the splash pad can't run a the same time. But, only one fixture at time would come on and it would stay on that item for 10-15 minutes. For some fixtures, that was OK because the fixture dispersed enough water that many kids could play at the same time. However, some of the fixtures only had 2-3 small streams of water that were not easily accessed by more than one or two kids and it was easy for selfish kids to simply block those streams leaving essentially no water fun for anybody else.
Additionally, there was trash everywhere. I really the parks department isn't responsible for keeping the trash picked up. But, I started to pick up some of the more offending pieces of trash (bits of water balloons, etc.) I realized there weren't a lot of trash cans around and especially close to the splash pad. If I am trying to monitor my kids, especially little ones, I don't want to have to wander very far to throw away trash.
We will likely visit this park and splash pad again to see if the experience varies, but it was a disappointing...
Read moreI honestly don't even want to post a review of this park because it's my favorite park in the area, and I don't want it to become overcrowded like Bonnie Wenk park, for example.
However, this is an amazing park and all parents should know about it!
It has 3 playground areas (1 for littles with small awnings for shade and 2 for older kids), swings, a splash pad in the summer, walking trails, basketball courts, tennis courts (I think?), and restrooms. Also has picnic tables and a couple of pavilion areas with seating. Mature trees all around provide shade, and the newly renovated playgrounds and restrooms are still looking brand new.
I love this park and hope it continues to be clean and fun...
Read moreThere aren't many parks around here with shade. This park has many trees that throw shade in most of the places you would want it. The playground equipment is not as fancy as some of the newer parks, if that's what you seek. The big kid slides get too hot to touch in summer, but there is a modest water feature that can help sooth your child's burns. The biggest hazard there is the water fountain -- DO NOT approach it from the north side. I made that mistake and as soon as you hit that water button the doggie fountain on the ground shot straight up into my groin and I had to walk around looking like I peed myself. It was a moist...
