Staff comes off as being helpful and understanding until you have a problem with your product. then you're on your own even though they do offer to work on your RC vehicle they mostly just tell you to fix it yourself. The staff has tested my patience to the very limit I can no longer advise anyone to shop at HobbyTown. I've called around to other HobbyTown USA shops and have confirmed that the employees working at the Mentor Ohio location aren't always the most honest it's even had to escalate to a corporate phone call where I had to get reimbursed for the Mentor store charging me too much money for a product they were advertising on their own website at a lower cost. First vehicle I bought was a Dominus 10 tr brought it home it broke within 10 minutes took it back up to HobbyTown they tore it apart and supposedly fixed it brought it back home ran it for another 5 to 10 minutes and it broke again so then moving on I decided to purchase a Traxxas 116th erevo VXL had that at home for about 2 hours and the radio went out. took it back up to the store the next day and was told with an incredible amount of cockiness & unprofessional behavior they have to replace the radio which is okay and understanding but not really being that I had just purchased it. anyways I eventually did get the erevo to run then had some work done on it and it just hasn't been the same since the workmanship of the repair was terrible. well the repairs were being done to the erevo I purchased a Traxxas rally 1 10th scale. And just like before had to take it back to the store for several issues that could have actually just been resolved on the date of purchase. Wasn't really looking forward to dealing with the HobbyTown staff anymore because all he really did Was adjust the end points of the steering servo which made it almost impossible to use it would take up to 30to40 feet to make a full turn round which is completely unacceptable... so I decided to contact Traxxas directly they had me mail out the Traxxas rally to Texas to be completely repaired the correct way. At this point I'm done I planned to never purchasing another thing from Hobby town in my life. But I did get an email coupon that I just couldn't pass up. so here I go again I purchased an axial trail honcho and surprisingly it ran out of the box and still does. so I went back to purchase another axial trail honcho for $329.99 but when I arrived at the store it had A three hundred and fifty five dollar price tag on it... I told the staff I saw it on the website for $329 and 99 cents I was told they do not honor the price of anything online so I walked out got in my car and called corporate and was reassured that they had to honor the price... long story short they did not honor the price that was posted on their own website. so reluctantly I forked over the extra cash that would have went to a battery for the truck. So it's not like they wouldn't have gotten their money anyways. maybe they should stop being so greedy about money and develop some social skills and most importantly they all need to be retrained on how to deal with a customer. I mean after all we are the ones with the money coming into the store to spend it I shouldn't feel like I'm being ripped off everytime I purchase something or wondering if you'll stand behind the product you just sold me... Lol well I already have the answer to that. you don't stand behind anything you sell. I've already filed one complaint with the Better Business Bureau and I will be filing another. I've said it before and I'll say it again you guys take all the fun out of the hobby
Now you have banned me from the store treating me like a criminal only because I wanted professional customer service and what I paid for. I didn't think that was too...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNice place alot of RCās and other hobby related stuff but this is where the positive stop! Some of the staff the ones that were more interested in their cheesecake then getting me the right parts for my car drove an hour to come to this place and the lazy employee didnāt even want to get the RC off the shelf or get a ladder to help his manager get down the car way to go cheesecake boy! Sadly I will never go back to this place and now Iām stuck with an extra $200 in extra batteries I didnāt need. Maybe to cheesecake boy this is not a lot of money because heās independently wealthy working in an RC shop just there for the fun of eating cheesecake. Hopefully one day your dreams come true and you get a job at the cheesecake factory so you donāt have to get off your chair! Hope Bobbo see this and does some thing about you but probably not since heās 1 million years old and probably canāt operate the Internet like your guys registers, also if you advertise on your website that you have something in stock you might want to take it down when you donāt! To the other guy that first helped me you did your job well you probably deserve a raise because you were trying to fix the register problem the other two people seemed lost without you! Thanks for the Traxxas Car now I just need to save up to buy the right batteries for the car. Needless to say I will never show my face again in the store. šØI would stay away from this place and shop online least you donāt have to worry about a...

I want to support local business as much as possible, but this store makes it very tough. The problems have been either a lack of knowledge or unwillingness to try and provide support.
Claimed he didn't know what parts I would need to upgrade an older Traxxas Stampede transmission to the new grey case style. Thought that should be basic for a store that carries a lot of Traxxas. I really got the impression he didn't want to waste his time on me.
I then went back to buy props for my Tricopter. They had a limited selection in multirotor counter rotating style and what they did have was a pair of each size. Just a pair which makes no sense if its for multirotor you need 3 to 4 or even more in each size to make just one craft.
The stock is of a very old school nature. While they sell a lot of up to date Spektrum stuff they really are missing a lot of the newer more open source DIY type of hardware that requires one to use online sources.
The guy in the back was also making fun of people that were calling in on the phone, pretty much loud enough for whole store to hear.
In short Either lacking knowledge (guy up front) or to busy to care (guy in back) Old school over priced models Limited selection of batteries that I saw Can be rude at times I got no impression that my business was even wanted
Guess I'll just keep...
