My husband and I booked a few treatment at the spa during our stay at the Setai. I had the Balinese balancing massage and manicure, and he had the deep tissue alpine vitality massage.
My husbandâs massage was with Murad, whoâs a former competitive athlete. He combined the best of massage therapy techniques with knowledge of sports medicine, and was able to incorporate stretches into the message to address pain points and stiffness in a way no other massage therapist has ever done. My husband couldnât stop saying how it was the best deep tissue massage done with incredible expertise and unlike anything he had experienced.
My massage was with Jane, who was absolutely wonderful. She checked in to see if the level of pressure was to my liking and spent the right amount of time on all the areas I requested. It was so relaxing and calming that it took me an hour afterwards to come to my senses! I could tell she was extremely knowledgeable and gave great tips on stretches to address my key concerns.
For the manicure, I appreciated the ability to stay in the same room, where my massage table was converted into a lounge chair. The technician (I believe Melina) did a great job and I had no complaints.
Overall, everyone was extremely attentive. We were constantly offered refreshing iced teas, nuts and dried fruit were available to snack on, and they provided all the toiletries you could need (shaving kits, dental care kits, etc.). They even put a few free samples together with a lovely card for my birthday! The spa itself is small and just has the basics, but the expertise and service is out...
Read moreI booked a couples massage at Valmont Spa in the Setai Miami for my birthday with my wife, and unfortunately, it turned out to be a huge disappointment.
Booking was a nightmare. We called multiple times over two days and only got voicemails. It took serious effort just to get someone on the phone to confirm our appointment.
We were promised pool access, but when we arrived, we were told it wasnât allowed. No explanation, no apologyâjust a flat refusal.
The elevator to the massage floor was broken, so we had to walk up a long flight of stairs. Not exactly the luxury experience youâd expect from a high-end spa.
The massages themselves were subpar. My wifeâs masseuse was completely unskilled, to the point where she left feeling worse, not better. She was frustrated and disappointedâdefinitely not the birthday treat we envisioned.
We also paid an extra $120 for a foot scrub that lasted maybe 10 seconds per foot. It felt like a scam.
We were never offered use of any relaxation amenitiesâno pool, no jacuzzi, nothing. And honestly, by the time our massages ended, we were both in such a bad mood we didnât even bother with the relaxation room or use the $50 gift card they gave us. We just left.
The worst part? Weâve had better spa experiences at a mall. For a place that markets itself as luxury, this was a complete letdown. Save your time, money, and expectationsâValmont Spa is...
Read moreI love a good spa. I had a free day in Miami and my daughter suggested I went to the Setai Spa. I booked my spa appointment, 90 min deep tissue massage, the day before. On Tuesday, I arrived 3 hours early in order to spend some time at the beach, use the steam room and relax prior to my treatment. Well, I was very disappointed in their facility. It was very small, crowded, wet, steam room was a tiny shower, and it was very low on amenities. I came to find out they were remodeling it. On my way out to the beach, I approached the front desk and let them know I was disappointed and wish they had immediately informed me the spa was being remodeled when I called to make the appointment, the day before. I also told them I have choices. They simply replied that everyone does this (and there was a supervisor at the desk then). I drove 30 minutes to get there and planned my day accordingly. The treatments are being performed in a completely separate building on an18th floor. It is actually quiet up there and has the feeling of a spa with pretty views. When I arrived to relax for a few minutes my therapist was ready for me. She quietly rushed me, even after my treatment. Absurd right? I must say II will not be going back. When you pay nicely, you expect to be treated nicely. There was no pampering here! It felt like a market throughout from valet...
