I give it three stars. Not for the teachers or the academy, but for the administration. Classes are huge! 20+ kids per class with one teacher. Sometimes they have help from other older students and sometimes they don’t. As a recommendation I am hesitant. They will cancel classes and not make them up on another day. Classes missed because of hurricanes will not be made up. With the missed classes this year, each class of 45 minutes cost almost $40 a class. There are no refunds or adjustments either. During spring break and winter break of public schools, there are no classes either. I wish they would honor the amount of classes they said they would give. After paying $800+ the parents have to also pay to see their children during the end of the year recital. At least they let the kids borrow a tutu to wear during the show. Teachers are awesome and are working with what they are being given, but they look stressed. I would change some policies to make their system work more effectively. By the time the teachers are done taking attendance and getting the girls in line,the class went to 35 minutes of class. Do the math almost $40 a class for 35 minutes of actual instruction 🤔

UPDATE: recital tickets were sold out. Some parents that waited a week before to buy their tickets have no way of seeing their children dance now. Teachers are trying to help those parents, but again administration of this school...

I bought tickets to the Nutcracker and the email / directions sent directly by Miami City Ballet sent me to the wrong building and caused me to be a few minutes late. Despite buying expensive tickets, upon arrival I was told I had to go to the 4th floor because it was “late arrival seating.” Per the venue, Miami City Ballet - the very entity that incompetently gave me the address for the wrong building and directly caused said late arrival - refused to allow the venue to permit anyone to head to their assigned purchased seats after the show started. The venue advised that they were actually making an accommodation by letting me take a seat on the 4th floor in the rafters. It was hard to see from wayyyy in the back but, for what it’s worth, the performance was unimpressive in and of itself. If I could leave less than 1...

Horrible, horrible experience at the Broward Center performance on Sunday afternoon March 1 - frankly shocked that the conductor didn’t halt the performance and raise the house lights! This ridiculous practice of allowing VERY LATE arrivals to continue entering the venue throughout the entire first section (i.e. “Rodeo”) destroyed and marred what could otherwise have been a dazzling experience. People jostling about, talking loudly, cell phones still making noise, annoyingly bright flashlights wielded by ushers in our faces - all these are situations that would be rectified if Latecomers were made to wait until the first intermission.
