My stay was okay. I made the reservation with Julie who advised me I could pay cash for my hotel room. When I got to the hotel room the front desk told me they could not take cash at the Dorchester location and that I needed to walk down the street to the Marseilles Hotel to pay in cash. This was not communicated to me. The front desk lady told me in English and in Spanish this is not my problem! I went Friday and asked for ice and the front desk told me ice machine has been broken for a couple days. I asked the restaurant and they advised there is an ice machine by the entrance. Why was this not communicated by the front desk clerk.I was given vouchers to get 1 umbrella and 2 chairs for the beach which is operated by Circus something. I asked the kiosk lady and she told me the vouchers where not valid cause she did not work for the Circus people she worked for a different company. After 15 minutes of going back and forth and her asking her supervisor they finally approved the voucher. I also received a free drink voucher which quickly found out its for 1 drink the hotel stay for one guest only.Restarant stated those vouchers are not valid. I was also charged resort fees and the Dorchester is not a resort. I asked for a tooth brush and tooth paste cause we some how lost ours and they advised they did not have any to go to Walgreens or CVS. If I am going to be charged resort fees then it should be a full service hotel.Lobby closes at midnight! I asked for extra towels and they said they could not bring them up I had to walk to the desk to pick them up mean while the bell boy was just standing behind the desk on his phone chit chatting with rhe front desk clerk. The pool had leaves all over you can tell it was not used or clean.it was nothing special. This is not a resort and those fees should not apply. The restaurant is separate from the hotel. There is massive mis communication between the staff and management as to what the hotel has to offer or what benefits they offer as a so call resort. I will not be returning and will take my money else where to an actual real resort like the Lennox next door which I found out its way...
Read moreStayed here for my birthday this past weekend. Horrible hotel!!! The cleaning staff was not consistent with cleaning the room everyday. Someday we got floor mats other days we didn't. The lay out for the bathroom is ridiculous, it was small, no vents at all. The air conditioner was extremely loud. One garbage can in the room. The happy hour is a joke, you have to pay $1 for every drink, the bartender asks you back for the glass he served you in so that he can give you a refill.
So normally most hotels would give complimentary fruit platter or champagne if you notify them of a speacial occasion. When the room was booked it was specified in the comments section that we were celebrating a birthday. The day of I asked do you give anything speacial, the clerk at that front desk proceeded to look over our reservation and told us that she doesn't see any comments about that. We pulled up the reservation and showed the clerk, she said she would call us in a few minutes because she needed to speak with the manager. They called and said there's nothing that they can do because we didn't call them after making the reservation to inform them of the birthday celebration, and their reservation department is closed so they couldn't reach out to them. How hard is it to make a fruit platter, or give someone champagne or wine??? That's an easy fix. I guess you get what you pay for. Do not stay here if you can afford better. It's really run down.
They offer beach towels. The towels were very insulting. They are bath size white towels and that over 20 years old. Very dingy and plush at all. Invest in towels. All of the other hotels offer good looking towels. Those white towels are so basic and cheap quality. You guys need to do better, the industry is constantly changing and improving and you guys need to do the same. I would not recommend this...
Read moreSo upon reading a plethora of reviews on several sites besides this one regarding the Suites of Dorchester, I will admit I was a little anxious. So I have read rave and not so rave - from the bathrooms being small, to things not working, to this hotel needing extreme upkeep, etc.||||So I stayed on the suite side and was able to get it at an awesome rate close to the rate of that of a room. I was thoroughly impressed with this suite and was therefore relived. It was well decorated and if I had a group, it would have worked nicely.||||The property itself is a charm/traditional art deco. It's centrally located, within walking distance to the beach, not in the loudness of Sobe but close enough to enjoy. As you walk in the sitting area is inviting. You don't see many hotels with a social sitting area outside and inside. Some hotels don't have the luxury. The chain hotels downtown are nice but the lobby areas are congested of people walking in and out. It's more corporate, catering to mostly business patrons. In Sobe you get the entertainment and social aspect of the hotels. The courtyard also allows for less noise/privacy.||||So some points:||Yes there is a $150 hold on a credit card to cover everything - incidentals, resort and parking fees.||Once you check out you are only charged the daily resort fee and/or parking fee if you chose to park there. I had no issues with parking.||||Overall, I found the staff courteous, professional, and friendly. I would confidently...
