If you're the type of person who likes to work out in peace (such as myself) then North Point YMCA is not for you. Keep in mind, this is NOT a reflection of ALL YMCA's. They are all different. However, this location has a limited amount of machines which are uncomfortably jammed tightly together in one, tiny sardine can of a room. I mean, you could rub elbows on the treadmill. I was incredibly uncomfortable and couldn't focus on my workout at all.
The facility is well kept and clean. The staff seems pretty nice. The kid zone is a bit tiny and unengaging as well. The outdoor area is beautiful. It has a large pool and table areas.
The constant blasting of loud Latin music was VERY disturbing to say the least. It seems this would be a great place for Hispanic people to hang out. They really seem to enjoy the classes and everything seems to be in Spanish. I didn't feel comfortable or welcomed at all. Either way, I will be returning to give it another shot. If anything changes I will definitely update this review accordingly.
Either way, keep in mind that the YMCA is a family facility. I'm sure it's great for...
Read moreHorrible treatment!!...I had a really frustrating experience while trying to leave the park at night. I've skated there many times and never had a problem until now. A staff member suddenly started yelling at me to leave, which shocked me since I hadn’t heard about any new rules, and if I have to leave I will, but She said that "I had to leave.. now" I was with my skates on, trying to take them off, but apparently she want me to skate thru the streets, she even threatened to call the police while I was merely trying to pick up my things. As I was grabbing my scooter and bag, she kept shouting, even though someone else was around in a car, so the problem to close the gate was not me, i'm tecnicaly a pedestrian! the park have openin to walk in and out. I passed by the office multiple times with her there, without anyone mentioning I needed to go and she acted like she warned me several times before. Overall, that is not the way to treat a person it was an awful experience that left me feeling disrespected...
Read moreAmazing place for families! I cannot say enough good things about he North Pointe YMCA. Everyone there treats us like family. From the moment we joined, Ada helped us find programs to suit our needs. She always welcomes our family with a smile and greets my kids by name! Angelica, who works at the aquatic area has been the sweetest and caring person we have ever met. Since we started the swimming program, she made sure we were happy and always had time to talk about our needs as a family. She is the best swimming coach ever! I have three kids ages 3,6,10. One of them is wheelchair bound and the programs at the Y have always been inclusive. The Yoga and Zumba classes are so fun! They even do Zumba at the pool. Hope this place grows and gets an Olympic pool and more exercise rooms very soon. That is the only thing that is missing. Thank you Y North Pointe staff for being so amazing...
