Miami River Greenway — Attraction in Miami

The Miami River Greenway is a 6.2 mile trail that begins at Bayfront Park and ends at NW 24th Ave. The trail is a project in conjunction with the Miami River Commission and the Trust for Public Land.

The idea for the trail began in the late 1990's as a way to link neighborhoods, businesses, cultural attractions, historic sites, and 9 public parks along both banks of the historic Miami River. Along the trail are historical markers, information kiosks, public art, decorative lighting, and benches.

I picked up the western end of the trail at Jose Marti Park, which borders the river in the city's Little Havana neighborhood. Eventually the trail will be expanded to 10 miles up to Palmer Lake, near Miami International Airport. I liked reading all of the historical signs and discovering public art. I think it's a nice way to feel Miami and have a different perspective. I think it's the ideal choice for morning walks, its total length is 6.2 miles.

If you don't want to walk, you can enjoy the grass next to it and sunbathe. If you have a dog, you can leave your dogs in the special dog area and enjoy their free socialization.
