I’ve visited this restaurant several times during my stays in Miami. I fell in love with the curry chicken empanadas a couple of years ago.. I was traveling home from Mexico and had a layover in Fort Lauderdale. I was super excited about having the empanadas again so I decided to hire a car just to take me there when we got there the empanadas looked amazing as usual. However, there are flies and gnats landing on the empanadas. I asked them to make fresh ones just to make sure we weren’t getting Unsanitary. There was a younger girl with dark brown hair that Took our order. Her demeanor initially was just OK. After we got our empanadas, I noticed that she put two of my empanadas in my friends box who got six empanadas. I got 14. I asked her to let me know which two that she put in the box of six were mine. I don’t think she knew because she instantly got an attitude. I had to ask her twice as she wasn’t comprehending what I was asking her. Finally, she asked someone else to give her help but before she did it, she cursed in Spanish, not knowing that I knew what she was saying. From that point on her attitude, just got worse. It kind of put a damper on the whole experience of me driving to Fort Lauderdale just to experience these empanadas. I was disappointed to say the least. When I finally did get to bite into one of the empanadas, they were cold in the middle as well. Sadly, this experience is definitely going to keep me from going back. I’m very big on Customer;service even though the flavors are simply amazing. I can’t spend my money at a place where I’m gonna be treated nasty just because I want my empanadas identified. I wish them the best, but I won’t...
Read moreA Family: A Taste of Argentina in Every Bite
If you're craving a taste of Argentina that will transport you straight to the streets of Buenos Aires, A Family is the place to be. This unassuming bakery has quickly become my go-to spot for empanadas and media lunas, and I can confidently say it's the best I've had outside of Argentina itself.
From the moment you bite into their empanadas, you're greeted with a flavor explosion. The flaky pastry is perfectly cooked, and the fillings are bursting with authentic Argentinian flavors. Whether you prefer the classic beef empanada or venture into more adventurous options like spinach and cheese or ham and cheese, you won't be disappointed.
The media lunas, those delectable crescent-shaped pastries, are equally divine. Flaky, buttery, and just sweet enough, they're the perfect accompaniment to a cup of coffee or tea.
What sets A Family apart is their commitment to authenticity. Every bite feels like a piece of Argentina, and it's clear that they take pride in their craft. If you're an Argentinian food lover or simply looking for a delicious new spot, I highly recommend giving A Family a try. You...
Read moreGross. I can’t tell the difference between uncooked dough and unmelted cheese. Clearly this product has not been heated to a safe eating temperature. When I explained to staff that the uncooked food makes me wonder if I’m going to be sick and I can’t finish the the food because it’s not heated all the way. They simply patronized me and offered me food without cheese, I explained again, I eat cheese, but if I order a hot mozzarella and onion empanada the mozzarella should be melted, at the very minimum unmelted cheese and uncooked dough should be separately identifiable. The staff refused to acknowledge my concerns, after explaining that I simply want the onion and mozzarella empanada fully cooked and not undercooked, treating me like I’m stupid and crazy for not wanting to get sick eating their undercooked food. When I asked for my money back they were unable to process it within several minutes and I ended up having to leave anyways. What a terrible, terrible restaurant. Please health inspector check this uncooked...
