Skanda yoga teacher training. Last year I completed the 200hr teacher training, from Skanda Yoga, but before explaining you my experience, you need to know what exactly Skanda Yoga is. It’s a practice that blends and integrates the wisdom of the Mayan Calendar into our daily Asanas with the intention to prime our bodies, minds and hearts to an harmonious life with the currents of creation this practice draws from ancient traditions of Yoga and the most well founded current scientific understanding of such practice with a fundamental integration of our breath into movement.
Studying Skanda Yoga is the most transformative experience I’ve ever done. These words might fall short to explain why. But let me try. it’s not only the exceptional quality in theory and technique that contains the knowledge within the classes but the loving energy from which is conveyed. The teachers and creators of the style are profoundly rooted in Bhakti (the devotional aspect of the yoga path) Before embarking on this journey I was a man that absolutely never moved a finger without knowing how much and when I was going to be rewarded from my actions. As you can imagine that statement sounds very much as a control freak of a person, plagued with ambitions and worldly desires The interactions with my teachers started showing me the way of Bhakti and how all their actions are loving offerings to the divine creator regardless of how you want to call it. It started to create shifts within me and the place from which I act, the Bhakti orientation teaches you to apply your highest effort at the task in hand and at the same time how to let it go in the hands of the divine without expectations of reward, as the opportunity of the action in itself is the reward. Today I enjoy a life much free of anxieties and much free of confusions around the...
Read moreWithout a doubt the best Yoga studio in Miami, and among the best anywhere. My personal opinion is the studio, the practice and the community are the best in the world. I love it.
Skanda Yoga (these are my words, you can get a better description from the website or in the studio) is a power Vinyasa style, which has common ground with Ashtanga, Iyengar and also some very unique features. It's an amazing well thought out practice. There is also a practice guide you can get on Amazon and an app for iPhone/Android. It is based on the breath, so you'll spend a lot of time connecting to your breath and using it to move through the asana.
This is a place where any level is welcome - from Level 0 to Level 3 and teacher training. Be prepared to sweat and to work hard - but you'll also see benefits to yourself and your practice quickly and safely.
The owners are very selective in the process of finding/developing teachers and instructors, because each one I've encountered at Skanda is awesome. It may sound like I am being overly effusive, but seriously - they're awesome.
One thing to keep in mind, the 5:00 and 6:30 classes during the week are going to get pretty crowded, some people see that as a positive, and others may want to seek different timeslots. You'll see some pretty advanced Yogini/Yogi in those classes.
I'm very happy that Skanda Yoga is here - and I hope they are for a long time to come. It's really an oasis of positivity and practice in Miami.
They use the MindBody system, which allows you to book everything via app, it's painless, quick and works great. You can park with the valet of the building it's...
Read moreI recently completed a 200 hrs yoga teacher training course with Skanda yoga and I have to say, it was an incredible experience. From the moment I walked into the studio, I felt welcomed and supported by the teachers and my fellow students. The Skanda yoga training program itself was well-structured and comprehensive, covering everything from the history and philosophy of yoga to the anatomy of the body and how the 13 moon wave spell energy aligned to yoga poses. Each day was filled with both theoretical and practical lessons, allowing us to deepen our understanding of yoga and practice teaching to one another. One of the things I loved about this training was the attention given to proper alignment and the importance of modifications to suit the needs of different individuals. The teachers were incredibly knowledgeable and approachable, always willing to answer our questions and offer guidance. But beyond the curriculum, what really made this training special was the sense of community that developed among us. We came from all walks of life and different parts of the world, but we bonded over our love of yoga and our shared journey of growth and self-discovery. Overall, I cannot thanks enough my mentors Anand and Sadhana Shakti for their devotion and guidance during this amazing journey. I highly recommend Skanda yoga teaching training program whether you're interested in teaching yoga or simply want to deepen your own practice, it offers a transformative and unforgettable experience. The best teacher training in Miami Namaste...
