Decided to stop by the Thyme Machine food truck while staying at the nearby Novotel Hotel. Given the late hour, it was a convenient spot to grab a bite.
The food truck was manned by a single person, so the service was understandably a bit slow. Despite the wait, we didn't mind, as the atmosphere was relaxed, and it was interesting to watch the food being prepared on the spot.
We started with the Zaatar, our first time trying this uniquely Middle Eastern dish, which consisted of a hot pita cooked on a Saj with a blend of thyme, sesame, and olive oil. The flavors were earthy and aromatic, making it a great introduction to this traditional dish. Unfortunately, the Chicken Shawarma didn't quite meet our expectations. It was a bit too greasy for our liking, which detracted from the overall flavor. While it was filling, the taste wasn't as robust or satisfying as we had hoped.
The Baklava was decent but not exceptional. It was walnut-based, which was a slight disappointment as we usually prefer pistachio in our baklava. Still, it had the characteristic sweetness and flaky layers, making for a nice, albeit not outstanding dessert. The highlight of the meal was the Lebanese Coffee. Watching it being freshly brewed was a treat, and the strong, bitter flavor was a perfect end to the meal. It had a depth that lingered, providing a satisfying experience for coffee lovers.
Overall, Thyme Machine is a solid choice for late-night cravings, especially if you're in the mood for Middle Eastern flavors. Just keep in mind that it's a food truck, so the quality may not rival that of a sit-down restaurant, particularly late night hours. Nevertheless, it's a convenient and decent option when you're looking for something quick and satisfying...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting Thyme Machine in Miami, and it was a delightful experience that took me straight back to the flavors of home. This cozy eatery specializes in Lebanese cuisine, and their sandwiches are nothing short of amazing.
Labneh & Zaatar Sandwich The Labneh & Zaatar sandwich was a nostalgic treat. The creamy, tangy labneh paired perfectly with the aromatic and slightly tangy zaatar. The freshness of the ingredients was evident in every bite, and the soft, warm bread added an authentic touch. This sandwich is a perfect blend of flavors that truly captures the essence of Lebanese comfort food.
Chicken Shawarma The chicken sandwich was another standout. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and cooked to juicy perfection. Complemented by fresh vegetables and a hint of garlic sauce, it provided a burst of flavors that were both familiar and exciting. The bread was fresh and slightly crispy, making each bite satisfying and delicious.
Thyme Machine has done a fantastic job of bringing the taste of Lebanon to Miami. The quality of the ingredients and the care in preparation shine through in every dish. Whether you're craving the classic flavors of labneh and zaatar or a hearty chicken sandwich, Thyme Machine is a must-visit. It felt just like being back home, savoring the beloved tastes of...
Read moreMy husband and I live in the area, and we've been noticing this food truck for a while, eager to finally give it a try. On two previous occasions, we passed by when the truck was open, but no one was around to serve us, which was extremely odd. Today, both of us were free from work, so we decided to take the opportunity and see what all the buzz was about. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the biggest disappointment ever.
We ordered two small chicken shawarmas. While we were waiting, we were shocked to hear excessive cursing coming from inside the truck—definitely our first red flag. When we finally got our order and arrived home, we opened the bag only to find a sloppy taco and a poorly wrapped burrito! We had ordered two of the same chicken shawarmas, so this was completely baffling.
The bread was falling apart, and the presentation was a 0 out of 10. Despite that, my husband, still hopeful, took a bite, only to be hit with the weirdest, faulty taste. It didn’t feel safe to eat, and on top of that, the shawarma was loaded with chunks of chicken fat. We ended up throwing both away and were left with nothing but a bitter, disappointing experience.
The location is so cool, and we had high hopes for this spot, but sadly, the reality...
