Stopped in here today on our vacation. The store was empty. We were the only people inside except for two employees that never left the register area. They never asked us if we needed help. When I said I had a question I was expecting someone to walk over but it did not happen. I had to yell my question across the store to the young gentleman who did not know the answer and deferred it to the slightly older gal covered in tattoos, this is not a judgment just a defining factor in case the owner would like to know who was working. Instead of walking over to me to answer the question she just yelled at across the store, no customer service whatsoever. I asked her at the register if it was independently owned and she said yes. As a small business owner myself, I would be highly disappointed if my staff were so disinterested in the customer. This is especially important during these hard times. Every dollar counts. Everyone who walks through the door counts. The visit took place on Friday, June 4th around 1 PM. The store was clean, well-stocked, everything was well presented. One star was due to the staffs lack...
Read moreHow often are you on the downtown streets of Milwaukee? To add to that, how often do you get a chance to score 20 year aged cheese? 😁 Well, that's exactly what transpired. I can't say we stumbled upon the Cheese Market, I was a thought of must! My wife picked up some blueberry goat cheese, I got the twenty year, some bloody Mary cheese curds, a blue cheese infused cheddar, and some horseradish white cheddar. There were other items as well, such as the olive bruschetta I nabbed at the last minute. (You get a free yellow lunch cooler with an ice pack when you spend 60 bucks) There were cheese knives, cutting boards, and meat products to pair with your cheese of choice. Before I forget, they even had a few select samples to share. This is a must see for the self proclaimed cheese enthusiast, but don't drag your feet, the market closes at 5pm. We actually had to come back a second time to shop😠. You can shop online but you won't get samples 😁. It was a fun and friendly experience. It may seem costly, however, I'm still enjoying my private reserve of real...
Read moreMy husband and I visited the WI cheese mart for a just a few cheeses, and ended up going home with over $50 worth in a free cooler. They do offer individual plastic wrapped samples of a few cheeses but we had a good idea of what we liked and what we wanted to try. They had a really good sale/deal on aged cheddar so we picked that up along with our one of our favorite brands of gouda, Marieke but not the flavor we we looking for (Foengreek was not in stock) , also picked up Deer Creek Speciality cheddar (though we like Vat 17 best and they did not have this either), and purchased some other aged cheeses and some sausage. We ended up making a great cheese board with some other extras we got at another store (Maile pickles, nuts, were not from the cheese mart) Pretty good variety, and prices and the staff were very friendly. We will definitely be back, but if we are looking for a few specific cheeses, we might have to...
