Nightmare hotel experience!
Our trip at the Hyatt occurred during the last weekend of June and started by finding a bed bug in our bed shown in the photos, blood smears from potential bed bug bites in the sheets, an unpleasant smell in the room, and a poop stained toiled. Obviously being completely aghast by the lack of maintenance in the room, we requested to be moved to a different room and floor.
After being moved, we began to unpack and checked the bed for any signs of bed bugs. During that, we hear somebody enter into our room... it was another hotel guest who had just arrived at the hotel and were assigned the same room we were just moved to! Thankfully my girlfriend or myself were not changing, showering, or in some other vulnerable position. Even worse, the situation could have turned hostel if the other guest saw us as an intruder. Thankfully the guest understood the mistake and left to the front desk to have the access card deactivated and moved to a different room.
After the situation, we left our room and looked up to the 5th floor to the room where we were last in and saw a mom and child knocking on the door... no one answered but it makes me worry if they actually decided to put somebody else in the room we just left that had the bed bugs. After that, we enjoyed an evening in Milwaukee and spent the night in the hotel. We spent the next day and evening away from our room and came back late that night to sleep before returning home from our vacation. After lying down, we discovered blood stains and bed bug casing shells throughout our bed and decided we need to leave tonight.
We had complimentary valet service and unfortunately decided to leave at an odd hour of the night which meant no valets were available. Not a big deal right? Get our keys from the front desk, locate the car using identifiers used by the valet service and leave. When we approached the front desk, we were told there is no guarantee they can get our keys due to the valet service not being available and that the valet service keeps the key to the all of the hotel guests car keys. Thankfully a Hyatt maintenance staff was available and had an extra key to retrieve our car key.
We thought we were in the clear but unfortunately their valet does a terrible job of identifying where they park their vehicles and waited close to an hour waiting for them to get our car to leave. I understand it was a tough situation to put the hotel in, but what if this was an emergency and we needed to leave immediately? I think the hotel not having a good grasp on the valet service they contract out shows a complete lack of organization by the Hyatt chain.
Our only regret is not taking more photo evidence of the blood stains, bed bug casings, and obtaining better quality photos of...
Read moreThis poor property is so dated and tired. The room size is adequate but the bathrooms are terribly small and worn. The room decor is just sad. The TV is first generation flat screen from the early 2000's (still uses RGB cables). No one offered us internet access as well. The shower is old and outdated as is the vanity and toilet. There is no room service. Housekeeping doesn't come on a regular schedule and sometimes not at all. You get one plastic cup for the bathroom and 2 paper coffee cups for the cheap coffee maker (ie--don't expect Nespresso). It looks like no owner wants to invest in this property to make it appealing. The brightest spot there is one employee, Tonee, who is in Housekeeping and brought us towels when Housekeeping didn't bother to check and brought us more cups (there were 3 of us in one room). He was happy to please. The valet staff is also friendly. The service in the restaurant and bar area was also very good. If this hotel was not in a good location, it would cease to exist. Lastly, I booked 3 rooms on the Floor with Club access, which was to include breakfast and afternoon appetizer/drinks. Well, the "Club" is only open Monday to Thursday. There is no mention of this on the website during the booking process. Friday through Sunday you get little coupons to use for one drink and for the breakfast buffet, and don't think Ritz Carlton buffet, think Motel 6 buffet (do they have one?). This hotel is in the downtown area where there are many tourists. Not what I expected and deceitful failure to disclose Club details and lack of room service when booking. By definition a four star hotel has to have room service. This is 3 star. Covid is over-----I can understand some problems with staffing and housekeeping as a result of Covid, but no longer. I don't know what the excuse will be for current conditions.
This is definitely not the Hyatt I remember. I stayed there 40 years ago and it was magnificent. I am just sad that this hotel has deteriorated so much. I know someone will respond to my review and tell me how sorry they are for my experience, but I see similar reviews to mine over the past years, so I won't believe that anyone really will make changes to the property, since my dissatisfaction is the same as their's from the past year...ie-nothing...
Read moreBad Decision! The parking situation is terrible. Arriving at the location I was provided (2) options for self parking. A $20 option which the attendant stated was over a block away and might have a walk way. He wasn't sure. The second option was $28 but the entrance was right around the corner. There were no directional arrows and parking was very unclear. I had to park and walk out the entrance of the garage on to the city sidewalk with my suitcase and briefcase. Very unsafe as I walked 1/2 a block around 9pm at night. When I shared my experience with the clerk she apologized but stated the parking situation was noted on their website. She stated if I hadn't booked thru a third party I would have seen it. I shared with her that I did visit the website prior to recommending the accommodations to my travel department. The rooms are fine, but old. No coffee machine in the room. They provide a free breakfast buffet to Starbucks which doesn't open until 7am. Of course they happily told me that I could walk across the street and buy a cup of coffee from George Webb's. I'm an early riser and enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning but do not want to have to walk alone in the city to get a cup of coffee. TERRIBLE!!
Day 2...NO COFFEE!! I travel a lot for work and I have never not had coffee provide at least in the lobby, if not in the room. It appears as though this hotel and staff feel very comfortable providing less during the pandemic. They have a letter asking that we do their work and bag up our trash. You have to be kidding me. I have never experienced anything like this in the numerous hotels that I have stayed in, in multiple states.
Forgot to mention that they refused to provide me a coffee maker. I was happy to buy the coffee for the maker. No reason to not have coffee makers in the room.
Received a response back from the owner: Did not offer any action or solution to the parking Did not offer any action or solution to coffee I guess it ok with ownership to have guests walking downtown Milwaukee in the dark to get to the hotel after parking and to get coffee..no regards for their guests safety They did acknowledged that the rooms are substandard as they will address next year with a renovation. Too bad I...
