A beautiful park on the Milwaukee River in downtown Milwaukee. Steps from the Milwaukee County Historical Society, which is housed in a lovely old bank building on the corner. Speaking of steps, there are wide steps leading down to the river where you can sit and look out on the water. It's peaceful and calming after a busy day, or in the afternoon on a lunch break or a walk around the city. Picnicking is encouraged, as there are tables provided. During the summer there is a free music series that is well worth attending. It's not usually crowded, but it is a popular draw. Pere Marquette park is one of my favorite spots in all of Milwaukee. These days, it's a lovely, classical park with a great bandstand, near the Historical Society, and a short walk to a dozen great bars and restaurants.
