Old German Beer Hall — Restaurant in Milwaukee

I came in on Black Friday with some friends after checking out the Christmas Market. I think half the city had the same idea because it was a full house! There was only one server, (who I think also does dishes) one cook, and one bartender, so the wait times were going to be nuts. We were told this prior to sitting down. My friends and I talked about going somewhere else because we thought we were going to be in for a very bad time. Eventually, our laziness just made us stay put. We were also proven very wrong. The server (I forget her name, Katie or another K name---She was wearing a blue dress so ask for her if she is working) Anyway, she let us know right away what to expect. The liters were promptly brought out and a major kuddos to the bartender for being on top of things!

The food took like an hour. Which sucked, but the sever was nice and apologetic. It was also not a surprise because we were warned. None of our drinks were empty for long, including soda and our waters. While our server was busy, she was still quirky and great to talk to whenever she visited our table, taking time to explain beers and food in an informed and fun way in spite of more hangry people being a less than patient. But the food! I can see why it took time to make! Everything was delicious! So juicy and what meat should be! Do yourself a favor and and order the OGBH brat or any of the Platters. My table got the sausage and pork Platters. So yummy! Can the cook please make Christmas dinner for my family? LOL

If you want to feel like German Royalty by feasting on delicious meat while beer maidens bring more liters, like their German counterparts, this is the place for you! It was like going to a Madrigal Dinner with fun festive vibes and equally witty banter with the staff. I feel sad for not remembering the server's name (K-something) or asking who the bartender and cook were, because she and the righteous dudes in the kitchen and behind the bar deserved a round of applause and beer for the great food and service in spite of the busy...

Man oh man. I love German food and German beer, but DO Not come to this location. We waited over an hour for our order only to find out that “it didn’t get put into the computer”. The cook seemed to think it was our fault and the waitress/bartender was rude. There were literally three total tables being served at the time, so not very busy.

The place is super under staffed, but that’s no excuse for treating customers like garbage. Hofbrau Haus is one of my favorite places, but this place is a total brand killer. We had a super poor experience and falls right at the feet of an indifferent waitress and a cook who is kind of a jerk.

The beer is solid Hofbrau Haus tap beer. The food they produce is mediocre at best. Their menu lists buy one get one beer on Thursday’s, but they don’t tell you that only starts at 5:00. (And presumably lasts until 5:01.). Just a bad place. Don’t be fooled by the Hofbrau name.

(And just it be clear, we were about as accommodating as can be. No apology from the waitstaff at all. These folks care nothing for their customers. Just pick another option in Milwaukee, maybe Maders…just...

I’ve never been treated so badly by staff anywhere, ever. We were a group of eight on Monday June 30th, about 3 PM. Had a drink at the bar while waiting for a table to clear. Bartender did “cheers” with us as she downed a shot. When we got seated we noticed they had an e-commerce service that you could scan and place your order. Since we had six separate checks and it appeared they were short staffed we thought this would be a good way to order. As soon as the first order was entered the bar tender came to the head of our table and shouted “I’m Here, I’m Here” scolding us for using the app. She was very rude, walked away and slammed the little cubby hole door that goes back to the bar.

AJ (the cook?) brought our food out. He too was very rude saying he doesn’t know who ordered what and began piling food on the table. A little while later he brought out our last food order and threw the plate on the table knocking over a mustard bottle then just walked away.
